Over the course of the past century, Taj has been an innovator and creative leader in every aspect of the culinary arts. Taj was a pioneer in introducing Sichuan, contemporary Japanese, Mediterranean, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine in India alongside elevating Indian regional cuisines to the mainstream.

Perhaps the most iconic of Taj’s pioneering culinary offerings is the beloved Golden Dragon, India’s first Sichuan restaurant at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. Incidentally, the iconic hotel also houses Mumbai’s first licensed bar – Harbour Bar and India’s first 24-hour coffee shop – Shamiana. Golden Dragon now boasts three additional locations in Chennai, Hyderabad and Colombo in Sri Lanka, while Shamiana has an outpost in Dubai.

From introducing the flavours of Cal-Indian and coastal Indian cuisine at Campton Place Restaurant, San Francisco and Quilon in London, respectively, earning both restaurants Michelin Stars, to introducing the first-ever European cuisine in India with the award-winning Orient Express at Taj Palace, New Delhi; our restaurants have attracted patrons across the globe for over three decades.

In recent times, contemporary Japanese with Wasabi by Morimoto – a regular on the S. Pellegrino’s best restaurants list, and Mediterranean cuisine with Souk were introduced. For over a quarter of a century, the legendary Thai Pavilion at President – IHCL SeleQtions has set the standard for outstanding Thai cuisine in the country. An ode to regional cuisine – Southern Spice at Taj Coromandel, Chennai and the iconic Karavalli in Bengaluru are hallmarks of authentic cuisines of India’s southern region.

We recently reinvented our all-day dining coffee shop and jungle cuisine, with the reopening of the iconic and much-loved dining destination in the Capital – Machan at Taj Mahal, New Delhi while continuing its evolution with its first outpost at Taj West End, Bengaluru. We have continued our journey of reshaping the culinary landscape in Bengaluru, where innovation pursued its course with the launch of India’s first on-site 7Rivers Brewpub at Taj MG Road.
