Air India Express, the subsidiary of Air India, has introduced flights connecting Kannur, Kerala with Abu Dhabi. The inaugural flight arrived at the Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) on December 9, 2018, at 12:30 pm, thereby coinciding with the grand opening of the Kannur International Airport .
