Korea’s first DoubleTree by Hilton property will be opened in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, in 2021, as Hilton has signed a management deal with Besitz Comprehensive Development.

DoubleTree by Hilton is a fast-growing, global portfolio of more than 525 upscale hotels with nearly 125,000 rooms across six continents.
“This agreement bolsters Hilton’s expansion in Korea,” said Guy Phillips, the senior vice president for Asia and Australasia at Hilton.

“When open, DoubleTree by Hilton Seongnam will cater to the growing demand from businesses in Seongnam, which is expected to further increase in the coming years in line with the thriving growth of this industrial district.”
The newly-built 432-room hotel will offer guest facilities with tailored services to meet the specific needs of business travelers, including multiple meeting and banquet spaces, fitness amenities, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, restaurants, a cafe and lounge.

“We are pleased to partner with Hilton to provide world-renowned hospitality within a business-friendly environment,” said Besitz Chairman Hwang Sung-taek.
“DoubleTree by Hilton Seongnam will be the best place to bring about achievements and success under the slogan, ‘Small actions can have a big impact.’ We certainly believe DoubleTree by Hilton will provide the utmost service and comfort to our guests.”

The hotel is adjacent to the high-tech industrial complex, Pangyo Techno Valley, which is thriving with more than 1,300 companies. It is optimally situated to be the central hub for business functions and to host business travelers and local guests alike.

“We are delighted to add to our global portfolio by opening our first DoubleTree by Hilton property in South Korea,” said Shawn McAteer, senior vice president and global head at DoubleTree by Hilton.

“We look forward to welcoming guests with DoubleTree by Hilton’s unique style of hospitality, which begins with our signature, warm DoubleTree Cookie upon arrival and continues with excellent service throughout each guest’s stay.”

Seongnam is of growing importance as a satellite city of Seoul. It is highly accessible with traveling times taking approximately 30 minutes from the heart of Seoul via the Gyeongbu Expressway, Seoul Ring Expressway and Yongin-Seoul Expressway. Seongnam also enjoys excellent connectivity via the metro system, with the Shinbundang Line serving the city from Seoul, enabling travel to Seoul’s Gangnam District in just 15 minutes.
