Privacy Policy

1. Introduction:

Profiles Media Network Private Limited (“PMN”, “we”, “us”, and “our”) is India’s leading multi-media company and the owner of prominent brands such as Travel Span, Mice Mirror, Luxury Weddings and Honeymoon, and Cargo Newswire. 

This Privacy Policy describes how PMN uses and discloses the information collected about you (your “personal information”) when you visit any of PMN’s websites (the “Websites”), or when you subscribe to or purchase any of PMN’s products or services or attend one of our events in person or online 

This Privacy Policy does not apply to other websites, apps, destinations, or other offerings that we do not own or control, even if they are linked to or from one of our Websites or one of our products or services. All capitalized terms used in this Privacy Policy shall have the meaning as defined herein. 

You can access this Privacy Policy at any time in the footer of the Website or as otherwise indicated depending on the product or service you have subscribed to or purchased. PMN advises that you regularly revisit this Privacy Policy for any updates to its contents.

In addition to reviewing this Privacy Policy, please also review PMN’s Terms of Service and any other terms and conditions that may be posted elsewhere on the Website, our products or services, or otherwise communicated to you.

If PMN makes a material change to this Privacy Policy, PMN will also post on the Website a prominent notice that a change has been made. Continued access, visitation, and/or use of the Website by you, or continued receipt of PMN’s product and/or services, will constitute your acceptance of any changes or revisions to the Privacy Policy.

2. What personal information does PMN collect from you?

PMN collects information:

  • when you pay for any of PMN’s products or services;
  • when you register to receive one of PMN’s newsletters;
  • when you visit any of PMN’s Websites;
  • when you attend any of PMN’s events in person or online;
  • if you participate in any research PMN undertakes;
  • if you join one of PMN’s communities or forums;
  • when you enter a competition being conducted by PMN; and
  • if you contact PMN about a query or a complaint.

· We may also collect information about you from third-party partners such as advertisers and our clients 

· PMN collects the following types of information:

· Contact information

· When you purchase or subscribe to one of PMN’s services, such as signing up for an email newsletter, or enter a competition, joining one of PMN’s online communities, participating in any of PMN’s research projects, or attending an event, PMN will ask you to provide contact information such as your name, e-mail and/or postal address so that PMN can provide you with the products or services requested. 

· General personal information

· When conducting surveys, running competitions, or hosting events, in addition to contact information, PMN may collect other personal information such as your gender, job title, date of birth, marital status, etc. 

· Online Identifiers 

· When you visit one of PMN’s Websites, PMN uses cookies and other similar technologies to automatically collect information about you and your web visits, such as how long you visited, what sites you visited or pages you looked at, your IP address, and geolocation, what sort of device and browser you were using when you visited (such as a mobile phone or type of desktop PC, Mac, etc.) and the language used by your device.

· Behavioral data

· When you visit one of PMN’s websites, PMN automatically collects data about your online behaviour (eg. time spent on the website, items clicked on, etc.). We may also collect certain socio-demographic information about you. 

· When you buy a product or service from PMN, such as a magazine subscription or a ticket to a PMN event, PMN will collect information about what products and services you have bought from PMN.

· When you register for a newsletter or take part in research, PMN may collect data about your preferences, tastes, and interests.

· “Special” categories of data

· PMN may collect data in online surveys on what is called “special categories of data”. These could be data sets such as biometric information (including voice samples, facial recognition, etc.), political opinions, religion, philosophical beliefs, health, sexual orientation, etc. Whenever PMN researches these topics, it is always optional, and where required by law, PMN will make sure it obtains your consent to process special category data. 

3. How PMN uses your personal information:

Fulfilling Your Requests. PMN uses your personal information to process your requests for products and/or services. For example, if you subscribe to any of PMN’s products and/or services, PMN may use your email address to send you a confirmation notice and use your mailing address to send you the product. Similarly, if you enter a contest, PMN will use your personal information to notify you if you are a winner. If you enter a contest or submit content to PMN (e.g., a “letter to our editors” or submit an online review or comment) PMN may also publish your name, screen name, hometown, and other personal information you have provided to PMN.

Administering the Websites and improving our business relationship with you. PMN will use and share your personal information in connection with administering our Websites and providing our products and services, including without limitation for (i) customer service; (ii) to help diagnose problems with servers; (iii) to improve products that PMN offers by tailoring them to perceived preferences; (iv) to aggregate and otherwise gather broad demographic information; (v) to analyze trends; (vi) to seek compatible advertisers, sponsors, clients and customers; and (vii) to track users’ movements around the Websites and elsewhere on the web or across apps and/ devices. Your geolocation data may also specifically be used to show you content (including advertising and sponsored messaging) based on your geographic location. 

Access by Third Parties.

  • Service Providers. PMN allows access to your personal information to service providers that perform services for us, but only for and to the extent necessary to perform those services. For example, service providers help PMN with functions such as technical maintenance, legal and accountancy, market research, community and forums management, auctions, e-commerce, personal/job search, list rental, data coop management, and other advertising functionality, as well as credit/debit card or other payment processing, order fulfillment, credit pre-authorization, and address verification. 
  • Third-Party Businesses and Clients. There are also times when you provide personal information to PMN on areas of the Website that may be managed, shared with, or participated in by one or more third-party business(es) or clients of PMN. Moreover, PMN rents sells, shares, and transfers personal information to (i) list buyers who market their goods and services (commonly known as “list rental”); (ii) PMN’s advertising, marketing, and sponsorship clients to market their goods and services; (iii) “data coops”, which are pooled databases containing the customer information of multiple publishers to enable the marketing use of such customer information by participating publishers; and (iv) consumer data suppliers/resellers, data enrichment providers and aggregators, and other entities in the online behavioural advertising ecosystem for purposes of online behavioural advertising, data optimization, lead generation, and other data-driven projects. In all such cases, the personal information may be used by PMN and by such third-party business(es) for their purposes, each according to its policies. 
  • Related Entities. PMN shares your personal information with PMN’s parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, and other related entities within the Conde Nast group of companies.

Marketing Communications and Advertising Purposes. PMN uses your personal information to display marketing material or communicate with you about new features, events, or products and/or services offered by us and third-party businesses, including PMN’s advertising, marketing, and sponsorship clients.

Health, Safety, and Legal Requirements. PMN may access, use, and share with third parties, your personal information for purposes of health, safety, and other matters in the public interest. We may also provide access to your personal information to cooperate with official investigations or legal proceedings brought by or otherwise involving governmental and/or law enforcement officials, as well as private parties, including, for example, in response to subpoenas, search warrants, court orders, or other legal processes. We may also use personal information to protect PMN’s rights and property and those of PMN’s agents, customers, and others, including to enforce PMN’s agreements, policies, and terms of use.

Transfer or Sale of PMN’s Business. As PMN’s business changes, PMN may buy or sell various assets owned or controlled by PMN. In the event all or a portion of the assets are sold, assigned, transferred, or acquired by another company due to merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, financing, acquisition, bankruptcy, or otherwise, your personal information may be among the transferred assets.

Combining Information. PMN may aggregate, merge or otherwise combine information, including personal information, in furtherance of the purposes above.

4. Legal Bases For Processing:

In some circumstances, we require a legal basis on which to collect and use your personal information. Where we need such a legal basis, the different legal bases of processing that we rely on to use your personal information are as follows: 

  • where PMN uses your personal information in a way that is necessary to perform a contract to which you are a party or provide you with a service you have requested; 
  • where PMN’s use of your personal information is within our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of a third party that we have shared your personal information and we have made sure that, on balance, our or the third party’s interests are not outweighed by your rights concerning that information. We may rely on our legitimate interests for a variety of reasons, including when we and/or the companies within the PMN group of companies use your personal information to improve our products or services, for marketing initiatives, research purposes, and for administrative purposes;
  • where PMN believes it is necessary to use your personal information to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation to which we are subject;
  • where (in limited circumstances) PMN believes it is necessary to protect an individual’s safety or vital interests; and 
  • where PMN has obtained your consent, for example when we collect online identifiers from cookies and other tracking technologies, and when we are required to obtain consent to use your personal information to send you marketing by email or text message. Where we rely on consent to use your personal information you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Please see the “your rights” section of this Privacy Policy for more details. 

5. Retention of Personal Information:

PMN will retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the products or services you have requested while taking into account any legal requirements and tax and accounting rules which may require us to retain personal data for certain periods beyond this.

In some circumstances, PMN may anonymise your data (so that it can no longer identify you) for example for research or statistical purposes, in which case PMN may use this information indefinitely.

6. Opt-Out of Marketing; How to Update Your personal information:

  • How to Opt-Out of Sharing for Marketing. If you do not wish to have personal information such as your name, e-mail address, postal address, or phone number shared with third parties for their marketing purposes, please contact PMN by e-mail as described at the end of this document. Please note, however, that, for PMN to properly administer its services, PMN may continue to share your personal information with service providers, as described C above (if you object to such sharing, you should not use our services).
  • How to Opt-Out of Marketing Messages from PMN. If you do not wish to receive future marketing or other commercial messages from PMN, simply follow the unsubscribe instructions contained within the message you receive. Please note, however, that you may continue to receive certain communications from PMN that are necessary for the product or service you have requested such as renewal notifications, invoices, technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative service bulletins.\
  • How to Update Your Personal Information. If you have registered or created an account on any part of the product or service, please use the mechanism or contact information on the product or service that allows you to change or update your member preferences, if available, to keep all such personal information accurate and up-to-date. If no such mechanism or the contact information is available on the product or service, contact PMN with your changes by email or as described at the end of this document.

7. Children’s Data:

PMN’s products and/or services, including its Websites, are not intentionally designed for or directed at persons less than 18 years of age. PMN does not knowingly permit any person who is under 18 years of age to register with the services or to provide any other personal information.

PMN considers it the responsibility of parents/ legal guardians to monitor their children’s, and their ward’s (as applicable) use of PMN’s Websites. Should a parent or guardian have reasons to believe that a minor has provided PMN with personal information without their prior consent, please contact PMN at the e-mail address mentioned at the end of this document.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies:

  • Tracking Technologies. In addition to the online identifiers described above, PMN may use web beacons, web bugs, internet or pixel tags, clear gifs, digital fingerprinting, and similar technologies (collectively the “Tracking Technologies“) on our Websites, including in PMN’s communications with you, such as within email and text messages and push notifications. PMN and third-party businesses use Tracking Technologies to determine which messages have been opened by recipients.
  • Do Not Track (DNT). Your browser setting may allow you to automatically transmit a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal to websites and online services that you visit. There is no consensus among industry participants as to what DNT means in this context, and some browsers automatically apply DNT signals by default and therefore do not necessarily reflect PMN’s visitors’ choice as to whether they wish to receive advertisements tailored to their interests. As a result, like many websites and online services, PMN does not alter its practices when the Service receives a DNT signal from a visitor’s browser. 9. Information Security and International Data Transfers:

  • Security Measures. PMN takes reasonable security measures to protect against unauthorized access to, or unauthorized alteration, disclosure, or destruction of, personal information.
  • International Transfers. Following the requirements of applicable law, PMN puts appropriate safeguards in place to protect your personal information when it is transferred to, stored, and processed in a country that does not have similar data protection laws to those of the jurisdiction in which you are based. 

10. Links to other websites

PMN’s Websites may contain links to other websites run by other organisations. This privacy notice applies only to PMN Websites. PMN encourages you to read the privacy statements on any other websites you visit. PMN cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of other sites even if you have accessed them using links from PMN’s websites.

11. Your rights

You may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include your right to know, access, correct, transfer, restrict the processing of, and delete your personal information. You may also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority or competent regulator in your jurisdiction.
