Emirates introduces mobile check-in desks at Dubai International T3

Emirates has introduced 25 mobile Check-In Ports at its Dubai International Terminal 3 hub, designed to reduce waiting times during peak hours.

The manned desks can be wheeled to where they are needed and are capable of handling passenger check-in, including the weighing and tagging of bags and the printing of boarding passes.

Emirates says that economy, business and first-class passengers traveling with two pieces of luggage or fewer will be encouraged to use the new ports, which the carrier says “will help cut down on queues and reduce waiting times during peak hours”.

Commenting on the news Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ chief operating officer, said:

“The use of advanced technologies and robots will continue to be introduced in our operational and customer touchpoints. We are committed to continually uplifting our services and providing our customers with a seamless experience and better journeys.

“Our latest Check-in Portals are a step in this direction and we are also working on other initiatives that rely on technology and artificial intelligence, to be introduced in the near future in different areas.

“We are fortunate to work with partners who share the same vision in utilizing digital platforms and advanced technologies to improve processes and ultimately, customer experience.” Dubai International is set to close its northern runway for “a complete refurbishment” next month, with works set to take place between May 9 and June 22.

During this 45-day closure, some flights will be rerouted to the city’s Dubai World Central airport.
