Following the controversy surrounding Boeing 737 Max, flydubai may consider replacing the aircraft model with Airbus A320neo aircraft. Boeing 737 Max faced a global suspension after the fatal Ethiopian air crash on March 10, 2019. In a recent announcement, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, stated that the airline may demand compensation from the US-based company after the aircraft grounding which led to 15 flydubai flights being cancelled per day — Max jets form 10 per cent of the airline’s fleet.

flydubai has not announced when the airline would replace the aircraft or how much compensation would they demand from Boeing. Sheikh Ahmed also said that there was a lack of clarity on the software fixes that Boeing was developing for the aircraft model. flydubai is one of the largest Max operators — In 2017, the airline ordered 250 aircraft. flydubai
