In a strategic leadership appointment signaling a renewed chapter for one of Thailand’s most iconic luxury properties, Dusit International has named Marc Handl as Managing Director of Dusit Thani Bangkok, the reimagined flagship hotel overlooking Lumpini Park. Handl’s selection comes as the property, part of the dynamic Dusit Central Park complex, continues to build momentum following its celebrated reopening.

The announcement positions Handl at the helm of not only the hotel but also two upcoming residential ventures — Dusit Residences and Dusit Parkside — that form integral elements of Dusit Central Park’s mixed‑use landscape, which also features premium retail, office space and one of Bangkok’s largest rooftop parks.

A Seasoned Leader with Global Hospitality Experience

A third‑generation hotelier, Handl brings more than 30 years of international luxury hospitality experience to Dusit Thani Bangkok. His career includes senior leadership positions with globally acclaimed hotel brands such as Park Hyatt, The Ritz‑Carlton, Aman and Rosewood, and spans key markets across Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. This breadth of experience equips him with deep insights into luxury operations, guest service excellence and strategic market positioning.

Handl’s professional foundation in food and beverage operations has evolved into a well‑rounded executive profile encompassing commercial leadership, multi‑property management, and strategic sales and marketing. His international upbringing and extensive history of working in Asian hospitality markets further strengthen his ability to lead with cultural sensitivity and a keen understanding of the expectations of today’s global luxury traveller.

Prior to joining Dusit, Handl served with Abu Dhabi National Hotels, where he oversaw a diverse portfolio of 15 properties across 10 international brands. His tenure there bolstered his expertise in asset management, brand development and operational leadership in highly competitive environments.

Steering Growth at a Pivotal Moment

Handl’s appointment arrives at a critical juncture for Dusit International, as the company advances its vision for one of Bangkok’s most high‑profile hospitality developments. The flagship hotel, which reopened on 27 September 2024after a complete redevelopment on the site of the original landmark property, has quickly made an impression on Bangkok’s luxury scene.

Since its relaunch, Dusit Thani Bangkok has garnered notable recognition from the global dining authority Guide Michelin, with the hotel’s signature Italian restaurant, Cannubi by Umberto Bombana, becoming the first Italian restaurant in Thailand to receive a Michelin Star in the Michelin Guide Thailand 2026 — a milestone that highlights the property’s culinary ambitions and its appeal to international travellers.

In addition to its culinary accolades, the hotel has been recognised with a Michelin Key for its overall accommodations and service quality, reinforcing its stature as a luxury destination in the heart of the city.

Expanding the Dusit Central Park Vision

Looking ahead, Dusit Thani Bangkok is poised to extend its influence beyond hospitality into luxury residential living with the phased introduction of Dusit Residences and Dusit Parkside. These sister offerings will present two distinct lifestyle experiences within the same tower, spanning classic, heritage‑inspired residences alongside contemporary, lifestyle‑driven living spaces. The strategic roll‑out of these properties is expected to unlock significant value and further cement Dusit’s footprint in Bangkok’s upscale real estate and hospitality sectors.

Handl, an alumnus of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business (Class of 2007), takes the reins at a moment of transformation — steering Dusit Thani Bangkok into its next growth phase as the hotel strengthens its legacy on the global luxury stage and enhances its appeal for affluent travellers, long‑stay guests and lifestyle‑oriented urban residents alike.
