Air India has announced the commencement of non-stop flights between Bengaluru and London Gatwick (LGW) from August 18, 2024, positioning Bengaluru as the fifth Indian city linked to the UK’s second-largest airport. The airline will deploy its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner for this route, which includes 18 flatbeds in Business Class and 238 spacious seats in Economy. This new service will provide Bengaluru Airport with connections to both London Heathrow and London Gatwick, making it the sole Indian airport with direct links to both airports.

The service will run five times a week, with flight AI177 leaving Bengaluru on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 13:05, arriving at Gatwick at 19:05. The return flight will depart from London at 20:35, arriving in Bengaluru at 10:50 the next day.

Bengaluru is set to become Air India’s fifth destination from Gatwick, adding to the existing flights from Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa, and Kochi that were initiated last year.

The airline will operate a total of 17 weekly flights from Gatwick Airport starting this summer. This is in addition to the 31 weekly flights from Heathrow to Delhi and Mumbai, as well as the six weekly flights from Birmingham to Amritsar and Delhi.

This announcement comes on the heels of Virgin Atlantic’s recent inauguration of its service between Heathrow and Bengaluru.

Commenting on the news Campbell Wilson, chief executive officer and managing director, Air India, said: We are delighted to offer our guests convenient, non-stop flights between Bengaluru and London Gatwick. “This new route caters to the growing demand for travel between these two important business and leisure destinations, and strengthens our commitment to expanding our global network.”
