Step into a world of regal splendor as Taj Usha Kiran Palace in Gwalior unveils its magnificent renovation, breathing new life into this over a century-old palace of the Maratha dynasty. Dating back to 1880, this iconic palace now stands as a beacon of Gwalior’s rich heritage and musical legacy, seamlessly blending contemporary comforts with its storied past.

Commissioned by Maharaja Jayaji Rao Scindia of the Maratha dynasty, this historic edifice has played host to royalty and dignitaries for generations. With 50 spacious rooms and suites, each exuding an aura of nobility and grandeur, guests are transported to a bygone era. Named after the first light of the sun, these rooms, nestled amidst nine acres of sun-kissed gardens, feature exquisite filigree work and jaali-inspired arches, inviting natural light to permeate the space. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with the traditional Maratha tutari and the grandeur of a ceremonial horse-drawn carriage, evoking the charm of yesteryears.

The centerpiece of the palace’s grounds is the majestic Navtaal swimming pool, an architectural marvel reminiscent of nine interconnected lakes adorned with Venetian-inspired bridges.

Kanika Hasrat, Area Director of Operations for Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand at IHCL, emphasized the significance of preserving Gwalior’s heritage, stating, “The meticulously restored Taj Usha Kiran Palace stands as a testament to Taj’s commitment to conserving Gwalior’s legacy and traditions, amidst the city’s captivating history.”
