Singapore Welcomes the Fleet’s Eighth Ship, Bringing Immersive Disney Storytelling to Southeast Asia
On March 10, 2026, the Disney Adventure set sail from Singapore, marking a historic milestone as Disney Cruise Line’s first ship in Asia and the eighth vessel in the globally renowned fleet. The arrival of Disney Adventure signals the Walt Disney Company’s growing footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing travel regions, while also expanding its presence in the booming cruise segment of global tourism.
“We think about this ship as a brand ambassador as Disney Cruise Line continues to visit more people in more places around the world,” said Joe Schott, President of Disney Signature Experiences. “It brings together our storytelling, entertainment, and legendary service in one immersive experience, creating memories for guests that stay with them long after the voyage ends.”
The launch of Disney Adventure aligns with Disney Cruise Line’s ambitious expansion plan, which includes five additional ships scheduled between 2027 and 2031. The fleet’s growth reflects the company’s broader investment in Disney Experiences, which currently has more global projects underway than at any point in its history.
Introducing New Guests to Disney at Sea
The maiden voyage of Disney Adventure demonstrates Disney’s unique ability to attract new audiences to cruising, particularly in Southeast Asia. Insights from early bookings reveal:
- Over 90% of guests are sailing with Disney Cruise Line for the first time, highlighting untapped growth potential in the region.
- Most guests are first-time cruisers, emphasizing Disney’s appeal to new audiences.
- Families represent the majority of passengers, reinforcing the brand’s strength in multigenerational travel.
- Many guests plan to spend time in Singapore before or after the cruise, contributing positively to the local economy.
While many passengers are new to Disney Cruise Line, their connection to Disney’s universe is already well established, with the majority having experienced Disney through theme parks, films, television, or consumer products. For these travellers, the cruise becomes a natural extension of the stories they know and love.
With Hong Kong Disneyland more than 1,500 miles from Singapore, the Disney Adventure provides regional guests with a closer, more accessible Disney experience. Disney also plans to extend cruise offerings to Japan through collaboration with Oriental Land Co., Ltd., expected to begin by early 2029, further strengthening its presence across Asia.
A Floating Storybook: Experiences Onboard Disney Adventure
As the largest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, Disney Adventure spans 1,122 feet, accommodates approximately 6,700 guests, and is supported by a crew of around 2,500. The ship offers three- and four-night itineraries, making the journey itself a key part of the destination experience.
The vessel features seven immersive themed areas, bringing over 100 years of Disney, Marvel, and Pixar storytelling to life with regionally inspired experiences. Highlights include:
- A Marvel-themed adventure zone on the upper decks
- San Fransokyo Street, inspired by Big Hero 6
- A Lion King–inspired fireworks spectacular
- Dedicated Duffy and Friends experiences, including meet-and-greets, themed consumer products, and an original stage show
“A cruise ship allows us to immerse guests in a brand in a deeper way,” said Bruce Vaughn, President and Chief Creative Officer, Walt Disney Imagineering. “It’s almost like stepping into a living storybook, where every space plays a role in the story being told. Immersion isn’t just about what you see — it’s how sound, lighting, food, and movement all work together so the story surrounds you.”
By combining cutting-edge entertainment, immersive storytelling, and world-class hospitality, Disney Adventure positions Disney Cruise Line as a premier option for families, first-time cruisers, and Disney enthusiasts in Asia, making Singapore a strategic hub for the brand’s regional growth.
