Thailand’s leading hospitality company, Dusit International, is poised to expand its regional footprint in the Middle East with the announcement of dusitD2 Al Ahsa, a new upper-upscale resort set to open in 2027 within the storied Al Ahsa Oasis—a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Developed in partnership with Al Ghadeer Group, the resort is positioned to cater to both business and leisure travelers, offering a refined yet culturally immersive experience in one of Saudi Arabia’s most ecologically and historically significant destinations.

The signing ceremony, held under the patronage of HRH Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr Al Saud, Governor of Al Ahsa, was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Mr. Naif Al Madi, Chief Business Officer of the Tourism Development Fund; Sheikh Bassem Al Ghadeer, Chairman of Al Ghadeer Group; and Mr. Gilles Cretallaz, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit International.

A Tranquil Oasis for Modern Travellers

Strategically located just 30 minutes from Al Ahsa International Airport and 90 minutes from Dammam, dusitD2 Al Ahsa will offer 120 expansive suites, ranging from one- to three-bedroom layouts, each featuring private terraces and plunge pools for a heightened sense of seclusion and serenity.

The architectural concept, designed by Cairo-based El Ghoneimi Architects, draws from the dramatic mountain backdrops and the symbolic richness of Al Ahsa’s lush palm groves—home to over 2.5 million date palms. The design embraces organic forms, natural materials, and modern luxury, harmoniously reflecting the identity of its surroundings while offering guests a contemporary sanctuary rooted in local culture.

Wellness, Events, and Family-Centric Experiences

Catering to the holistic needs of today’s global travellers, the resort will feature a dedicated wellness centre offering private treatment rooms, meditation zones, yoga spaces, and holistic healing therapies. An elegant 1,500-square-metre ballroom, complemented by expansive event lawns and multiple fully equipped meeting rooms, will support both large-scale social gatherings and corporate events.

Guests will also enjoy a selection of dining venues, including a vibrant all-day restaurant, a gourmet lobby café, and leisure facilities such as a large outdoor swimming pooladjacent children’s pool, and a dedicated kids’ club designed to deliver interactive and educational experiences in a safe, enriching environment.

Gateway to Cultural Immersion

Set against the backdrop of Al Ahsa’s diverse landscape, the resort is surrounded by cultural and ecological landmarks such as Al Qarah MountainJuatha Park, and the bustling Qaisariah Souq—making it an ideal base for travelers seeking authentic, experience-rich journeys in the Kingdom. The development aligns seamlessly with Saudi Arabia’s wider Vision 2030 tourism goals, focusing on heritage, wellness, and responsible luxury.

Expanding the Dusit Footprint in Saudi Arabia

With this signing, Dusit strengthens its commitment to sustainable tourism development in Saudi Arabia, aligning with national efforts to diversify and enrich the Kingdom’s hospitality landscape under Vision 2030. It follows the upcoming Dusit Princess Al Majma’ah in Riyadh, scheduled to open in Q4 2025, and reinforces the company’s ambition to become a key hospitality player in the region.

Expanding Thai-Inspired Hospitality Across the Kingdom

“This important signing reflects our strategic commitment to bringing Dusit’s unique brand of Thai-inspired, gracious hospitality to key destinations worldwide,” said Gilles Cretallaz.
