Airline expands its Indonesia footprint with new Denpasar connection
IndiGo is strengthening its international network with the launch of daily nonstop flights between Mumbai and Denpasar (Bali), starting October 18, 2025. The service will be operated using the carrier’s Airbus A320 aircraft, marking the airline’s second direct route to Bali after its existing Bengaluru–Denpasar connection.
The move underscores IndiGo’s strategy to tap into the growing demand for international leisure travel from India, particularly to Southeast Asia. Bali has seen a surge in arrivals from India in recent years, driven by its reputation as a sought-after destination for honeymooners, families, wellness seekers, and MICE travelers.
Expanding Options for Indian Travelers
With Mumbai now added to the network, IndiGo is connecting two of India’s largest metros directly to Bali. This is expected to significantly improve accessibility for travelers across western and southern India, providing a seamless option for both leisure and business segments.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Sales at IndiGo, said the launch is in line with the airline’s broader mission to expand its international reach:
“With the launch of daily flights to Bali from Mumbai, in addition to Bengaluru, IndiGo now connects two major metros to Bali, an increasingly popular leisure destination for relaxation and exploration. At IndiGo, we endeavor to make travel more accessible, seamless, and affordable, while continuing to strengthen our footprint. We are certain that customers will appreciate having these increased options to fly, with India’s preferred carrier, to Bali.”
Meeting Rising Demand
Industry data shows that Bali has rapidly emerged as a top international leisure destination for Indian travelers, thanks to its visa-on-arrival facility, diverse attractions—from beaches and temples to adventure tourism—and growing air connectivity.
The launch of Mumbai–Bali flights is expected to further boost outbound travel to Indonesia, while also supporting inbound tourism by facilitating easier access for Indonesian travelers and businesses into India’s financial capital.
Strategic International Growth
For IndiGo, the Bali expansion is part of its broader strategy to enhance point-to-point international connectivity. In recent years, the airline has steadily built its overseas portfolio with flights to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and beyond, targeting destinations with strong demand from India’s rising outbound tourism market.
The Mumbai–Denpasar route is expected to strengthen IndiGo’s position as the preferred carrier for affordable and convenient international travel, while cementing its role in supporting India’s growing aviation presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
