malaysiaMalaysia’s Royal Belum National is over 100 years old and this year is the focus of the campaign entitled ’Visit Malaysia 2014’. Speaking on Wednesday at ITB Berlin, Malaysia’s tourism minister Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Tan Sri Abdul Aziz described the country’s national park, which is the size of Luxembourg, thus: “The forest is home to 3,000 plant varieties, including the world’s three largest flowers, and 14 of the world’s most endangered mammals.“ Rhinos, The Malayan tiger and elephants live in this rainforest which, situated on the Malay peninsula, extends westwards over the border into Thailand.

“The soul of Asia“ is the slogan of Malaysia’s tourism campaign, which also focuses on the country’s ethnic diversity. Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and Christians live in this ethnically diverse country, which every year attracts millions of tourists from Europe. Visitors enjoy its wide-ranging cuisine and a wealth of cultural attractions, not to mention the spectacular scenery.

Addressing around 300 guests at the ITB Future Day of the ITB Berlin Convention, Nazri (“you can ignore the rest of my name“) said ITB Berlin offered an ideal opportunity to draw Europeans’ attention to his country. This was also why it had been at the show since 1974. Malaysia is currently represented by 120 tourism professionals from 59 organisations.
