  • Lufthansa is bringing the Allegris cabin to more destinations including during the upcoming winter season.
  •  However, in a memo to travel agencies, the airline warned that as of now, passengers will only have a short notice on whether they are flying on an Allegris-equipped Airbus A350-900.
  •  During the upcoming winter season, Lufthansa will only deploy the Airbus A380 to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in the United States, in addition to two other destinations in India and Thailand.

Lufthansa has announced that it would bring the Allegris cabin on the Airbus A350-900 to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) while cutting United States-bound Airbus A380 flights, leaving only Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as the sole US destination of its double-deckers.

More Allegris destinations

The German airline said that Allegris, which is the marketing name for its new long-haul product, which includes changes to first class, business class, premium economy, and economy seating, will be on flights to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) during the upcoming winter season.

The airline noted that Allegris will be present on flights to PVG and SFO during this summer season. In addition to PVG and SFO, Lufthansa will bring Allegris to Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) and Cape Town International Airport (CPT) during the upcoming winter season.

In a guide for travel agencies, Lufthansa detailed that Allegris should be present at eight different airports throughout 2024. However, the carrier warned that passengers would only be able to know whether they are traveling on an Allegris-equipped A350-900 around three weeks before their departure. The following information was correct as of June 4.

Lufthansa operated its first commercial flight with the Allegris cabin to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on May 1, with the airline finally being able to introduce the cabin following supply chain-related delays, which have included late aircraft seat deliveries, forcing the German airline to operate its first flights with the cabin without a proper first class seat.

US-bound Airbus A380 flight cuts

In addition, the airline revealed that during the upcoming winter season, its Airbus A380 aircraft will only operate flights to three airports across the world: Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

In comparison, in June 2024, Lufthansa operated flights with the Airbus A380 to a total of four destinations, all being in the US, with all flights with the type originating from Munich Airport (MUC). Nevertheless, the flights that it had introduced to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) and Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA) during the summer will continue during the upcoming winter season. Flights from MUC to JNB and SEA are operated by the Airbus A350-900.
