Marriott signs deal for six new hotels across South India

Marriott International partners with Brigade Hotel Ventures to open six hotels across Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kerala, expanding 940 rooms.

 Marriott International, Inc. has signed an agreement with Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited to develop six hotels across four cities in Southern India. The agreement will add 940 rooms to Marriott’s pipeline, expanding the company’s presence in a key growth market.

The portfolio comprises new-build projects under five Marriott Bonvoy brands: The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott, and Fairfield by Marriott. The signing reinforces Marriott’s long-standing collaboration with the Brigade Group, a major player in South India’s hospitality and real estate sectors.

The signing ceremony was attended by Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International; Nirupa Shankar, Managing Director, Brigade Group; Vineet Verma, Director, Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited; Ranju Alex, Regional Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International; and Kiran Andicot, Regional Vice President, Hotel Development South Asia, Marriott International.

Planned hotels under the agreement

The Ritz-Carlton Vaikom Island, Kerala

Expected to open in 2029, this 70-villa retreat will be located on Kerala’s scenic backwaters. Each villa is planned to include a private pool, alongside five dining venues, a spa, and wellness facilities. The property will be accessible by road from Kochi Airport or via speedboat transfer from Kochi’s Bolgatty Jetty.

JW Marriott Chennai OMR

Slated for 2030, JW Marriott Chennai OMR will feature 250 rooms and suites. Wellness amenities include the Spa by JW, a swimming pool, and fitness center. Plans also include five dining venues and 1,400 square meters of meeting space. Its location on Old Mahabalipuram Road places it in Chennai’s technology corridor.

Thiruvananthapuram Marriott Hotel World Trade Center

This project, part of a mixed-use development in Kerala’s capital city, will include 200 rooms, five dining venues, and the brand’s signature M Club. The hotel is expected to open in 2030, offering meeting facilities, Quan Spa, and close access to the international airport.

Courtyard by Marriott Chennai World Trade Center

Anticipated to open in 2027, this 45-room hotel will serve Chennai’s commercial hub. Plans include two dining outlets and a fitness center, positioned within easy reach of the city’s major office complexes and the airport.

Fairfield by Marriott Bengaluru International Airport

Opening in 2028, the property will feature 224 rooms and suites. Amenities will include dining outlets, an outdoor pool, fitness facilities, and a spa, catering to both transit passengers and business travelers.

Fairfield by Marriott Bengaluru Brigade Valencia

Planned for FY 2028, this hotel in South Bengaluru will include 151 rooms, a three-meal restaurant, bar, swimming pool, fitness center, and spa.

Industry context

India remains one of Marriott’s most dynamic markets in Asia Pacific. With these six additions, the company strengthens its presence in South India, particularly in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kerala—regions where demand for both business and leisure travel continues to grow.The projects are scheduled to open between 2027 and 2030, offering a diverse range of accommodations that span from upscale select-service to luxury.
