Sri Lanka successfully concluded roadshows in India, attracting record visitors with visa-free entry.

Sri Lanka — Sri Lanka’s tourism sector is experiencing a remarkable surge, with a record-breaking influx of Indian visitors. The island nation recently wrapped up a series of successful B2B roadshows and networking evenings in Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Jaipur on June 23rd, 25th, and 27th, 2025, respectively, as part of an intensified promotional drive aimed at the Indian market.

These events, organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), showcased Sri Lanka as a year-round destination for all types of travelers. A key highlight for Indian tourists is the visa-free entry initiative, making travel to the island even more seamless.

Sri Lanka’s tourism earnings have already surpassed $1.54 billion in the first six months of 2025. From January to May 31st, 2025, the country welcomed over one million tourists, with 204,060 arriving from India, solidifying India’s position as the top source market, contributing 20% of total arrivals.

Connectivity between the two nations remains robust, with SriLankan Airlines operating 90 flights weekly connecting Sri Lanka to nine Indian cities. Additionally, Indigo and Air India offer daily flights to major Indian cities, ensuring short and convenient travel times.

The Sri Lankan delegation, led by officials from SLTPB and SLCB, included over 35 tourism stakeholders, such as Destination Management Companies, hotels, and tour operators. These industry leaders engaged in B2B interactions with over 200 Indian travel agents and key industry figures in each city, fostering stronger ties and creating opportunities for beneficial collaborations.

Adding a vibrant touch to the events, a Sri Lankan cultural dance troupe performed, showcasing the island’s rich heritage and captivating traditions. This comprehensive effort underscores Sri Lanka’s commitment to reinforcing its status as a preferred destination for Indian travelers, offering a unique blend of stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and world-class hospitality.

The country aims to continue captivating hearts with its pristine beaches, ancient temples, and warm hospitality, promising unforgettable experiences for repeat visitors and new arrivals alike.
