Thailand welcomed 2 million tourists alone in January 2023

According to stats that were presented yesterday at WebBeds IMPACT Summit 2023 Bangkok, by Sitipakorn Cheawsamoot, Deputy Governor for International Marketing EMEA & Americas, TAT, the top10 list of visitors by nationality for January 2023 includes:

  1. Malaysia (257,684)
  2. Russia (202,642)
  3. South Korea (168,605)
  4. India (101,343)
  5. China (91,080)
  6. United States (80,723)
  7. Laos (79,706)
  8. United Kingdom (75,161)
  9. Germany (71,038)
  10. Vietnam (70,568)

Russia was the No1 country in the long-haul market (202,642), followed by the US (80,723) and the UK (75,161). Other countries in the top10 list are Germany, France, Sweden, Kazakhstan, Israel, Canada and italy.

Mr. Cheawsamoot stressed that for this year, Thailand must stimulate qualitative demand by prioritizing safety in order to create consumer reputation and confidence, with an emphasis on high-income and high-quality consumers. Also, the country must enhance tourism ecosystems by focusing on quality and sustainability “The TAT will focus on responsible and digital tourism, which will result in long-term income distribution”, he said.

Thailand is an all year round destination. The period October – March, on Winter holidays, focus is on markets in Europe, Russia and America. In April and May, on Easter holidays & Pre/Post Ramadan, focus is on Europeans. American and Middle Eastern markets. Finally, From June to September, during Summer and on school holidays, focus is on Southern Europe, Middle East and Israel.
