In a significant move to boost tourism relations between Türkiye and India, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, alongside the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), launched the India Destination Promotion Event 2025 with an inaugural event in Kolkata. Held at the prestigious Gallery Hyatt Centric, the event marked the beginning of a six-city roadshow aimed at showcasing Türkiye as a prime destination for luxury travel, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and wedding tourism.

Promoting Luxury, MICE, and Wedding Tourism in Türkiye

The event’s primary focus was to engage key tourism industry stakeholders and foster business-to-business (B2B) partnerships. Turkish tourism suppliers met directly with Indian travel partners to explore opportunities in luxury travel, MICE, and wedding tourism. Sessions highlighted Türkiye’s diverse offerings, including its rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and world-class hospitality, designed to appeal to the growing number of Indian travelers seeking high-end experiences.

Indian Interest in Türkiye Soars

The event’s timing coincides with a significant surge in interest from Indian travelers. In 2024, Indian tourist arrivals to Türkiye saw a remarkable 20 percent increase, a clear indication of the country’s growing appeal. With its diverse cultural, historical, and luxury offerings, Türkiye is quickly becoming a top destination for Indian tourists seeking unique and enriching travel experiences.

Strengthened Air Connectivity with Turkish Airlines and IndiGo

The event also showcased the enhanced air connectivity between India and Türkiye, which plays a crucial role in facilitating travel between the two nations. Turkish Airlines and IndiGo, two major carriers, emphasized the importance of maintaining and expanding flight routes to meet the increasing demand from Indian travelers. Their support further underlined the ease of travel between the two countries.

Following its successful launch in Kolkata, the India Destination Promotion Event 2025 will continue its roadshow journey, with upcoming stops in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and the grand finale in Mumbai. This initiative promises to further strengthen Türkiye’s presence in the Indian market and solidify its position as a top destination for luxury and cultural tourism.
