Marriott International has achieved a major milestone in India’s hospitality sector with the rapid expansion of The Fern Hotels & Resorts, Series by Marriott, reaching 75 hotel signings and 50 operational properties within less than six months of the brand’s launch in the country.
The landmark growth highlights rising owner confidence in India’s hospitality market and underscores increasing demand for high-quality, globally connected accommodation across both metropolitan and emerging destinations.
Announced on May 20, 2026, the development marks one of Marriott International’s fastest regional brand expansions and positions India as the foundational growth market for the globally scalable Series by Marriott platform.
The collaboration between Marriott International and Concept Hospitality Private Limited (CHPL), the parent company of The Fern Hotels & Resorts, has already added more than 3,556 rooms to Marriott’s India portfolio since the brand’s debut in November 2025.
India Emerges as Growth Engine for Series by Marriott
The rapid rollout demonstrates Marriott’s growing focus on India’s expanding domestic and regional travel market, particularly across Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities where branded hotel supply continues to rise.
Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International, said the pace of expansion validates the company’s long-term strategy for the brand in India.
“When we launched Series by Marriott in India last November, we spoke of a brand designed to scale with both speed and purpose. Reaching 75 signings, with 50 open and operating hotels across the country, in under six months is a validation of that vision,” Andicot stated.
He added that India is serving not only as the launch market for the brand but also as a “proof of concept” for its future international expansion.
“As we expand our footprint, we remain focused on delivering consistent, quality experiences for guests, while offering owners an efficient, conversion-friendly model backed by the strength of Marriott Bonvoy and our distribution ecosystem,” he said.
Expanding Presence Across India
The Fern Hotels & Resorts, Series by Marriott portfolio now spans 43 cities across India, offering a balanced presence in urban business hubs, leisure destinations and fast-growing secondary markets.
The brand has already established operations in key locations including Mumbai, Jaipur, Goa, Igatpuri and Bengaluru, among others.
Notable operational properties include:
- The Fern Mumbai, Goregaon, Series by Marriott
- The Fern Jaipur, Series by Marriott
- The Fern Habitat Goa, Candolim, Series by Marriott
- Rakabi The Fern Igatpuri, Series by Marriott
- The Fern Residency Bengaluru, Seshadripuram, Series by Marriott
The expansion reflects growing investor interest in conversion-friendly hotel models that combine global distribution capabilities with local operational flexibility.
Partnership Built on Regional Identity and Global Reach
Concept Hospitality’s partnership with Marriott combines regional expertise and sustainability-focused hospitality with Marriott’s international systems, loyalty platform and global distribution network.
Suhail Kannampilly, Managing Director, Concept Hospitality, said the collaboration has resonated strongly with both hotel owners and travellers.
“Reaching 75 signed hotels is a milestone we are genuinely proud of, but the more meaningful story is the hotels that are already open — already welcoming guests, earning loyalty, and delivering on the promise we made when this association began,” Kannampilly said.
“The alignment between The Fern’s heritage of thoughtful, regionally rooted hospitality and Marriott International’s global standards and distribution has resonated powerfully with owners and travelers alike,” he added.
Kannampilly noted that the combination of sustainable hospitality, owner demand for quality development and Marriott’s global systems has allowed the brand to exceed initial growth projections.
Designed for the ‘Global Domestic’ Traveller
Series by Marriott has been positioned as a “regionally created, globally connected” collection brand aimed at travellers seeking dependable international standards alongside authentic local experiences.
The concept focuses on practical hospitality essentials including comfortable accommodations, reliable service, quality connectivity and destination-inspired experiences.
Each property is designed to reflect the cultural identity of its location, whether through architecture, cuisine, regional traditions or guest experiences.
The brand targets both leisure and business travellers, with select hotels offering facilities such as meeting spaces, fitness centres and breakfast services.
Signature Guest Experiences Rooted in Indian Hospitality
The Fern Hotels & Resorts, Series by Marriott also introduces curated experiences inspired by Indian traditions and wellness concepts.
Among the signature offerings are:
- Grab & Go Breakfast options for early departures
- Dedicated recognition amenities for solo female travellers
- Evening turndown services featuring regional treats
- Traditional lamp-lighting ceremonies at dusk
- Wellness-focused in-room amenities including soaked almonds, raisins and cumin-infused water
The initiative reflects a broader trend in India’s hospitality sector toward experiential travel and culturally immersive guest experiences.
Marriott Bonvoy Integration Strengthens Appeal
All properties under The Fern Hotels & Resorts, Series by Marriott participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty programme, enabling guests to earn and redeem points across Marriott’s global hotel network.
Guests also gain access to Marriott Bonvoy’s digital services, including mobile check-in, contactless experiences and personalised travel features through the Marriott Bonvoy app.
The rapid expansion of Series by Marriott comes amid sustained growth in India’s domestic tourism, increasing air connectivity, rising disposable incomes and strong demand for branded accommodation across emerging travel markets.
Industry observers believe the success of the model could encourage further partnerships between international hotel operators and regional hospitality brands across India and other high-growth Asian markets.
