Destination records 4 per cent growth in foreign visitor arrivals despite regional uncertainties, with new measures focusing on air connectivity, market resilience, and targeted international promotion.

Egypt has unveiled a fresh set of tourism incentives aimed at sustaining international visitor growth and strengthening air connectivity, as the destination continues to demonstrate resilience despite regional geopolitical tensions and broader challenges impacting the global travel industry.

The initiative comes as Egypt recorded a 4 per cent increase in international tourist arrivals between January and the first week of June, highlighting the continued appeal of the country’s rich cultural heritage, historical attractions, and diverse tourism offerings even amid a challenging operating environment.

According to the Egyptian Tourism Federation (ETF), the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has introduced targeted support measures to encourage inbound travel and maintain international air services to the country. The incentives are designed to mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices, increased transportation costs, and temporary booking fluctuations caused by regional developments.

Speaking at a press conference, Sherif Fathy, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, emphasised that transportation — particularly air travel — remains one of the most significant challenges facing global tourism today. The increase in fuel prices has led to higher airline operating expenses and transportation costs, creating additional pressure across the international tourism value chain.

However, he noted that Egypt’s proactive approach and incentive programmes have helped maintain tourism momentum, preserving air traffic levels and supporting the destination’s competitive position in the global tourism marketplace.

Tourism remains one of Egypt’s most important economic pillars and a vital contributor to national income. Recognising the importance of collaboration, the Egyptian government continues to work closely with the private sector, the Egyptian Tourism Federation, airlines, tour operators, and other industry stakeholders to achieve sustainable long-term growth.

A key element of Egypt’s strategy is the adoption of flexible and adaptive marketing approaches that can respond quickly to changing market conditions. The Egyptian Tourism Authority is increasingly leveraging digital technologies, data-driven campaigns, and targeted international outreach to engage priority source markets and strengthen destination visibility.

As part of its ongoing global promotion efforts, Egypt has intensified engagement with travel trade partners, international content creators, and tourism stakeholders through destination showcases, industry meetings, and curated tourism experiences designed to highlight the country’s evolving tourism landscape.

Over the past two months, the destination has welcomed international influencers, digital creators, and leading tour operators as part of a broader strategy to enhance global awareness, build stronger trade partnerships, and encourage future travel demand.

With a combination of strategic incentives, enhanced marketing initiatives, and close cooperation between public and private sector stakeholders, Egypt aims to maintain its tourism growth trajectory and reinforce its position as one of the world’s most iconic and resilient travel destinations.

The latest initiatives underline Egypt’s commitment to navigating global uncertainties while continuing to invest in connectivity, innovation, and sustainable tourism development to secure long-term success for its travel and hospitality industry.
