Courchevel is stepping up its engagement with India’s luxury travel market as the French Alpine destination marks its 80th anniversary, placing greater emphasis on luxury hospitality, gastronomy, wellness and experiences alongside its internationally recognised skiing.

The destination’s three-city India roadshow begins in New Delhi on September 8, followed by engagements in Kolkata on September 9 and Mumbai on September 11. The programme is being conducted in partnership with One Rep Global and comes during a landmark year for Courchevel, which was founded in 1946.

The India visit also marks the first time Thierry Mugnier, President of Courchevel Tourisme, has travelled to India in his current capacity. The initiative represents the fourth year of the destination’s partnership with One Rep Global and is aimed at strengthening relationships with India’s luxury travel advisors and trade partners.

Courchevel’s 80th anniversary is being celebrated throughout 2026, with the resort’s official winter anniversary programme running from December 4, 2026, through April 18, 2027. Founded from scratch in the French Alps in 1946, Courchevel has developed from an ambitious post-war ski project into one of the best-known luxury mountain destinations in France.

Building a Broader Proposition for Indian Travellers

While skiing remains central to Courchevel’s identity, the destination is positioning itself in India as a more comprehensive Alpine holiday proposition.

That includes luxury accommodation, fine dining, wellness, shopping, family activities and experiences for travellers who may not necessarily be skiers. Courchevel’s official tourism platform highlights activities ranging from snow and adventure sports to wellness and indoor leisure, reflecting the breadth of experiences available beyond the slopes.

The strategy also reflects changing preferences among younger Indian travellers, particularly those increasingly interested in experiencing snow and skiing rather than simply visiting the mountains as spectators.

For Courchevel, that presents an opportunity to introduce the destination to a new generation while retaining its appeal among established luxury travellers.

Six Villages, One Alpine Destination

One of Courchevel’s defining characteristics is its six-village structure. Courchevel 1850, Courchevel Moriond, Courchevel Village, Le Praz, La Tania and Saint-Bon each offer a distinct atmosphere, while being connected through the wider resort network.

The range allows travel advisors to tailor stays according to a traveller’s priorities, from the sophisticated profile associated with Courchevel 1850 to the more traditional and family-oriented character found in other parts of the destination.

The resort’s appeal extends beyond the immediate ski slopes. Restaurants, spas, boutiques, hotels and chalets form an integral part of the Courchevel experience, making it possible for visitors to build a winter itinerary around skiing or to enjoy the mountains without spending their entire holiday on skis.

Skiing at the Heart of Les 3 Vallées

Courchevel is part of Les 3 Vallées, officially described as the world’s largest interconnected ski area, with 600 kilometres of slopes. The network links seven resorts across the French Alps and offers terrain for beginners through to experienced skiers.

For first-time skiers and families, Courchevel offers dedicated beginner areas and ski schools, while more experienced visitors can access the extensive terrain of Les 3 Vallées.

The scale of the ski area is complemented by Courchevel’s high-altitude setting and extensive accommodation infrastructure, reinforcing its appeal for travellers looking for both skiing and a luxury Alpine stay.

Luxury Beyond the Slopes

Courchevel’s proposition increasingly extends into gastronomy, wellness, design and retail. The destination is home to a wide accommodation portfolio, with the official tourism website currently listing 45 hotels ranging from two-star properties to palace-level establishments. Many offer direct access to the slopes.

Its dining scene is another major component of the destination’s international profile, while luxury boutiques and wellness facilities add further options for visitors seeking a more leisurely winter break.

For the Indian market, that breadth is particularly relevant. Families and multigenerational groups can combine skiing with spa treatments, fine dining, shopping and sightseeing, while non-skiers can build an itinerary around the resort’s hospitality and mountain experiences.

A Milestone Year for Courchevel

The India roadshow comes at a pivotal moment for Courchevel as it celebrates eight decades of development and looks towards the next phase of its international positioning.

The resort’s official anniversary programme highlights its origins as an innovative “skiable city” conceived in 1946 and its subsequent evolution into a global winter-sports destination. The anniversary is also being used to reinforce Courchevel’s reputation for innovation and its ability to continually introduce new experiences, accommodation and dining concepts.

With India emerging as an increasingly important source market for luxury and experiential travel, Courchevel’s latest outreach is designed to broaden awareness beyond skiing and present the destination as a complete French Alpine experience.

The three-city programme in New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai marks another step in that strategy, bringing Courchevel’s tourism representatives directly into contact with India’s luxury travel community as the destination enters its 81st year.
