Partnership to strengthen STARLUX’s commercial presence, passenger sales and cargo opportunities in the Indian market

New Delhi: InterGlobe Air Transport has been appointed the exclusive Passenger and Cargo General Sales Agent (GSA) for STARLUX Airlines in India, as the Taiwan-based carrier moves to strengthen its commercial presence and expand market development activities in the country.

Under the agreement, InterGlobe Air Transport will oversee sales, marketing, distribution, operational support and regulatory clearances for STARLUX’s passenger and cargo businesses in India. The company will also work to expand trade partnerships, build brand awareness, generate passenger demand and develop cargo opportunities across key Indian markets.

The appointment forms part of STARLUX’s wider strategy to develop its presence in India and provide travellers and trade partners with greater access to its international network.

Focus on passenger and cargo growth

InterGlobe Air Transport will use its nationwide market reach and established relationships with the Indian travel trade to support STARLUX’s commercial activities.

The mandate covers both passenger and cargo segments, giving the airline a local sales and distribution structure as it seeks to build demand in one of Asia’s rapidly developing aviation markets.

Simon Liu, Chief Strategy Officer, STARLUX Airlines, said India is an important region in the airline’s long-term network development strategy.

“India is one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets and an important region in STARLUX Airlines’ long-term network development strategy,” Liu said. He added that InterGlobe’s market experience, presence and industry relationships would support the carrier’s expansion in India.

Liu said the partnership would help introduce more Indian travellers and cargo customers to STARLUX’s service and international network.

STARLUX strengthens India strategy

Founded in Taiwan, STARLUX operates an international network connecting Taiwan with destinations across Asia and North America, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, as well as Prague in Czechia.

The carrier has also established connectivity between India and its network through an interline agreement with Air India. The partnership, announced in October 2025, enables Air India customers to access Taipei through Southeast Asian gateways, while STARLUX customers can connect to Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru through shared gateways.

The new GSA arrangement gives STARLUX a dedicated commercial representation structure in India as it seeks to expand awareness of its brand and its network among Indian travellers and the trade.

InterGlobe to drive market development

J.B. Singh, Director, InterGlobe Air Transport, said the company would focus on expanding STARLUX’s visibility and market reach while developing passenger and cargo opportunities.

“We are delighted to represent STARLUX Airlines in India and support the growth of one of the world’s most admired premium carriers,” Singh said.

He added that InterGlobe would focus on building brand visibility, expanding market reach, driving passenger demand and developing cargo opportunities across key Indian markets.

The appointment adds STARLUX to InterGlobe Air Transport’s portfolio of airline representation mandates. The company has previously been appointed GSA for international carriers including Oman Air and Aeromexico in India.

Opportunities in India-Taiwan travel and trade

The partnership comes as airlines and travel companies seek to tap growing demand for international travel from India, while strengthening commercial and trade links between India and East Asia.

For STARLUX, the GSA arrangement is expected to support the development of both leisure and business travel, while the cargo mandate creates an additional focus on air-freight opportunities between India, Taiwan and markets accessible through the airline’s network.

For Indian travellers, STARLUX’s Taiwan hub provides access to its wider network, while the airline’s existing partnerships offer additional options for connecting between India and Taiwan.

The appointment marks another step in STARLUX’s efforts to establish a stronger commercial footprint in India, with InterGlobe Air Transport responsible for translating the airline’s international network and product proposition into greater market engagement across the country.
