Airports Authority of India is developing a new greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh’s Hollongi region, which is 15km from the city of Itanagar. It will be constructed in a 4,100 sqm area and be able to handle 200 passengers during peak hours.

The construction work is expected to be completed by November 2022. An approximate amount of ₹650 crore has been allocated for the development of the airport.

The terminal will be equipped with eight check-in counters, a rainwater harvesting system and sustainable landscape. The project will also include construction of an ATC tower cum technical block, a fire station, a medical centre and other ancillary works to ensure a hassle free airport experience.

The airport building’s design is influenced by the surrounding landscape. The glass façade will offer stunning views of the Himalayan foothills.

Once completed, the airport is expected to serve as the primary gateway to the state of Arunachal Pradesh. aai.aero
