China Eastern Airlines has confirmed an increase in capacity on its Shanghai–Delhi route, upgrading the service to daily operations from January 2, 2026, as part of its ongoing network expansion in the Indian market.
The Shanghai Pudong (PVG)–Delhi (DEL) service, relaunched in November 2025 following a five-year suspension, was initially scheduled to operate five times weekly. The carrier has now opted for a daily frequency, citing strong passenger demand and positive response from the travel trade.

Network Connectivity
China Eastern noted that the daily service will enhance onward connectivity for Indian passengers, with single-ticket itineraries available from 39 Indian cities via Delhi to Shanghai, and onward to destinations across the airline’s international and domestic network.

In addition to the Shanghai–Delhi frequency increase, China Eastern Airlines confirmed further expansion plans in the region, including:
- Kunming (KMG) – Kolkata (CCU): Route relaunch planned
- Shanghai (PVG) – Mumbai (BOM): New service under consideration
The airline said the expanded network reflects its strategic focus on strengthening air links between China and India, supporting passenger traffic growth as well as bilateral trade, tourism and cultural exchange.
