Suprabhath Roy Chowdhury takes charge from 7 August 2026, bringing extensive IHG experience across hotel operations, food and beverage and new-property openings in India and South West Asia.

Holiday Inn Resort Kathmandu, Budhanilkantha has appointed Suprabhath Roy Chowdhury as General Manager, effective 7 August 2026. In his new role, Roy Chowdhury will oversee the resort’s strategic and operational direction, with a focus on strengthening its market position, enhancing guest experiences and supporting continued business growth.

The appointment comes as Kathmandu’s hospitality sector continues to evolve, with growing demand for leisure, business and experience-led travel in Nepal.

Extensive IHG leadership experience

Roy Chowdhury brings extensive experience across IHG Hotels & Resorts properties in India and South West Asia, spanning hotel operations, food and beverage management and new hotel openings.

Before taking up his new role in Kathmandu, he served as Opening General Manager of the first voco hotel in the South West Asia region, a position he held from April 2024.

His earlier IHG leadership positions include General Manager at Holiday Inn Mayur ViharExecutive Assistant Manager – Food & Beverage at Crowne Plaza Nairobi, and Director of Food & Beverage at Holiday Inn Mayur Vihar.

During his tenure at Holiday Inn Mayur Vihar, Roy Chowdhury was also appointed Regional Champion (West) for R&B for IHG Hotels in India, recognising his contribution to the group’s food and beverage operations.

Focus on growth and guest experience

As General Manager of Holiday Inn Resort Kathmandu, Budhanilkantha, Roy Chowdhury will be responsible for driving operational performance while strengthening the resort’s positioning within Kathmandu’s competitive hospitality market.

His remit will include enhancing the overall guest experience, supporting commercial growth and working with the resort team to maintain operational excellence.

Commenting on his appointment, Roy Chowdhury said he was delighted to take on the leadership role and looked forward to working with the team to build on the resort’s existing strengths.

He also highlighted the opportunities presented by Kathmandu’s hospitality market and said he was excited to become part of Nepal’s evolving tourism and hospitality landscape.

Experience across operations and openings

Roy Chowdhury’s career combines operational leadership with specialist expertise in food and beverage and hotel openings.

His experience in launching and managing properties is expected to be particularly relevant as Holiday Inn Resort Kathmandu, Budhanilkantha continues to establish its market presence.

His background across multiple IHG properties also gives him experience working in different markets and operating environments, providing a foundation for his new leadership role in Nepal.

Strengthening Kathmandu’s hospitality landscape

Kathmandu remains an important gateway for visitors exploring Nepal, with the wider valley combining cultural attractions, heritage sites, spiritual experiences and access to the country’s mountain and adventure tourism circuits.
