Voco Mumbai Powai Hotel & Convention Centre and Vijayta Raheja for Holiday Inn Express and Suites both set to open in Powai, Mumbai

IHG Hotels and Resorts, a global hospitality giant, has just inked two significant hotel management deals in Mumbai. In a formal ceremony held on September 28th, IHG signed hotel management agreements with Saryu Properties and Hotels Pvt. Ltd., a part of the illustrious K Raheja Group Family, to transform two existing hotels into upscale establishments.

The hotels, set to undergo a major makeover, will be rebranded as the “Voco Mumbai Powai Hotel and Convention Centre” and the “Holiday Inn Express and Suites, Mumbai Powai.” This landmark agreement marks the introduction of the Voco brand in Western India and heralds the arrival of a new Holiday Inn Express and Suites in the heart of Mumbai.

Nikhil K. Raheja, MD of Saryu Properties and Hotels Pvt. Ltd., conveyed his confidence in the venture: “We believe this partnership will assist us in delivering world-class hospitality in Powai, Mumbai. This signing is testament to IHG’s commitment to grow their footprint in India by bringing the right brands to the right markets.”

Holiday Inn Express and Suites Mumbai Powai and Voco Mumbai Powai are presently in the development phase, with expected openings in the fourth quarter of 2023 and the second quarter of 2024, respectively. Both hotels will be strategically situated in Powai, Mumbai’s thriving startup hub, making them an attractive choice for both business and leisure travelers.

Powai boasts numerous educational institutions, the Hiranandani Business Park, SEZ Parks, and other commercial complexes. Additionally, its proximity to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport makes it highly accessible. Consequently, both hotels anticipate robust demand from nearby businesses, corporations, and IT firms.

Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South-West Asia, IHG Hotels and Resorts, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to announce the signing of two hotels in Mumbai, in partnership with Saryu Properties and Hotels Pvt Ltd. The city offers a wealth of opportunities for the hospitality sector, and we are excited to contribute to its economic growth.”

Vijayta Raheja, Director and Spokesperson of Saryu Properties and Hotels Pvt. Ltd., added, “We are pleased to partner with IHG Hotels & Resorts to introduce IHG’s popular premium brand, Voco, in Mumbai and further expand the presence of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, which is loved by guests all over the world.”

The two hotels will cater to different market segments, with Holiday Inn Express and Suites Mumbai Powai offering a hassle-free and efficient stay experience, including comfortable modern rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge, a well-equipped business centre, and a fully-equipped gymnasium. Holiday Inn Express and Suites Mumbai Powai is set to open later this year.

Sudeep Jain emphasised IHG’s commitment to expanding its presence in India: “We are pleased with the confidence our owners have placed in our business and brands, and we look forward to further strengthening our portfolio in the country to offer exceptional hospitality to our guests.”

On the other hand, Voco Mumbai Powai, scheduled to open in Q2 2024, will offer 134 premium rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby and lounge bar, and extensive meeting spaces spanning approximately 2,500 sqm of outdoor and indoor event space.

As IHG’s rapidly growing premium brand, Voco promises a unique and refreshed hospitality experience. Since its global launch in 2018, Voco has witnessed rapid expansion across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Once operational, Voco Mumbai Powai will provide guests with a distinctive premium hospitality experience in the city.

Nikhil K Raheja and Vijayta Raheja, third-generation developers from the esteemed K Raheja Family Group with interests in real estate and hospitality, are excited about this collaboration, which promises to redefine the hospitality landscape in Powai, Mumbai, and beyond.
