How to transition bookings on/after 12 November, manage baggage, and lounge access
Vistara is about to enter a new phase in its journey by merging with Air India, marking a significant shift for its customers. From November 12, 2024, Vistara flights will be operated under the Air India banner, and anyone trying to book a flight on Vistara from that date onwards is being redirected to the Air India website. While the merger promises enhanced travel options, customers with existing Vistara bookings for travel after November 12 need to follow a few essential steps to ensure their journeys go smoothly.
Verify Booking Details
It is crucial to verify your booking details to check for any changes. Customers can do this on the Air India website or mobile app by entering their PNR number and last name. This will help keep track of any updates, such as flight status or aircraft adjustments. On the day of travel, passengers must check in at the Air India counter at their respective airports.
For customers who booked their flights through travel agents, it’s advisable to contact the Air India Call Centre or manage bookings via the Air India platform.
PNR and E-Ticket Changes
While PNR numbers will remain the same post-merger, customers will receive a new Air India ticket, with a different e-ticket number. It’s a good idea to keep a record of both the original Vistara ticket and the new Air India ticket for a hassle-free travel experience and to resolve any discrepancies if they arise.
Stay Informed About Flight Operations
Though flight schedules are expected to remain the same, there could be adjustments post-merger. Air India’s customer service team will inform passengers via email or SMS if any changes occur. To ensure smooth transitions, both airlines will work closely, but it’s also a good practice to regularly check flight status on Air India’s website.
Review Baggage Allowance, Purchases, and Lounge Access
If you purchased excess baggage with your Vistara booking, it will automatically transfer to your Air India flight for post-merger travel. Be sure to keep your receipts for excess baggage to avoid any complications at the airport.
For lounge access or special services bought with your Vistara ticket, these may no longer be valid on Air India-operated flights. However, Vistara has committed to refunding customers for such additional services, wherever applicable.
Rescheduling and Cancellations
For passengers needing to reschedule or cancel their flights, the policies of the operating airline will apply, either Vistara or Air India. It’s recommended to contact the relevant customer care team for assistance with any changes.
