jüSTa Hotels and Resorts is all set to unveil its very first wildlife resort, jüSTa Lazy Haven Corbett, on October 19, 2023. This remarkable property, nestled in the heart of Kyari, a secluded hamlet surrounded by lush forests, represents a significant milestone for the company as it ventures into the wildlife resort sector. The jüSTa Lazy Haven Corbett is the 22nd addition to the company’s hotel portfolio, marking its third presence in the state of Uttarakhand, following Mukteshwar and Rishikesh.
Strategically situated 6 kilometres from the state highway and accessible via a picturesque village road, the Resort is in proximity to Jim Corbett National Park, with the Bijrani Zone just 9.5 kilometres away and the Sitavani Zone at 8 kilometers.
Ashish Vohra, Founder and CEO of jüSTa Hotels and Resorts, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are looking at building an itinerary-based business where we can offer an entire tourist circuit to the guests, allowing them to explore all the major destinations in a region within 7–10 days.” He continued, “We were searching for a property in Corbett for some time, but we wanted to steer clear of the hustle and bustle that often accompanies the wedding and party crowds that many resorts in the area attract. Hence, this property, nestled in a serene corner of the National Park, aligns perfectly with our vision of creating a wildlife resort.”
Occupying 1.1 acres of land, with nearly half dedicated to verdant surroundings. The resort features 24 rooms divided into two categories: the Superior Room with Balcony and the Deluxe Room with Balcony. Additionally, guests can relish a swimming pool equipped with a dedicated kids’ section, a 48-seater multi-cuisine restaurant, and a rejuvenating spa. To enrich the wildlife experience, the resort offers the services of an in-house naturalist who can provide valuable insights into the region’s flora and fauna. Vohra also conveyed a diverse vision for the future; he said, “This property in Corbett is part of our expansion plans in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, which holds immense tourism potential. We have similar plans for developing circuits in Kerala and Himachal Pradesh.”
The resort also underscores its commitment to sustainability and eco-friendliness. It practices the separate recycling of grey and black water, composts organic waste to use as garden manure, employs white roofs for passive cooling, and utilizes recycled bamboo for insulation held in place by locally woven mats. These mats are affixed with traditional Garhwali baskets, serving as decorative lighting throughout the resort. The spa, which offers breathtaking forest views, has been constructed using scrap metal and leftover construction materials.
