Vivek Gomes Pereira, who played a key role in the resort’s pre-opening and launch, takes charge as General Manager as the property strengthens its positioning as a luxury wildlife destination in Rajasthan.
JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort and Spa has appointed Vivek Gomes Pereira as General Manager, marking the next phase in the leadership of the luxury resort in Rajasthan.
Pereira has been closely associated with the property since its pre-opening stage and led the team through its launch as Marriott International’s 10,000th property globally. His appointment comes as the resort focuses on establishing itself as a leading luxury wildlife and experiential destination in India.
A graduate of the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (OCLD), Pereira brings more than two decades of experience in luxury hospitality. His career has included senior leadership positions with The Oberoi Group and Marriott International, with expertise spanning hotel operations, food and beverage, team development and commercial performance.
Two decades of luxury hospitality experience
Pereira spent more than a decade with The Oberoi Group, working across properties in Mumbai and Bengaluru and progressing through a series of leadership roles in food and beverage operations.
He subsequently joined Marriott International in 2024 as Hotel Manager at JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity, before taking on the pre-opening leadership of JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort and Spa.
His experience across both operations and commercial functions is expected to support the resort as it moves into its next stage of growth.
Building a luxury wildlife experience beyond the safari
Commenting on his appointment, Pereira said the resort was developed around the belief that Ranthambore can be experienced beyond its renowned wildlife safaris.
The property features 127 keys, comprising luxury tented suites, private family villas and a Presidential Suite. Its facilities include four dining destinations, Spa by JW and a programme of cultural and wellness experiences.
Pereira said the resort’s objective is to encourage guests to stay longer and explore the destination more deeply, while creating meaningful experiences through its hospitality offering.
The positioning reflects the changing nature of luxury wildlife travel in India, where travellers are increasingly seeking experiences that combine wildlife with wellness, culture, cuisine, nature and personalised hospitality.
Focus on guest experience and team development
In his new role, Pereira will be responsible for strengthening the resort’s market positioning while focusing on guest experience, commercial performance and talent development.
His leadership style is characterised by observation, mentorship and empowering team members to take ownership of the guest experience.
The approach is particularly relevant to a destination-led resort where personalised service and knowledge of the surrounding environment can play an important role in shaping the overall stay.
With Ranthambore already recognised internationally for its wildlife experiences and proximity to Ranthambore National Park, the resort is seeking to build a broader luxury proposition around the destination.
Strengthening Ranthambore’s luxury tourism proposition
Pereira’s appointment comes at an important stage for JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort and Spa as it works to establish its identity within India’s growing luxury wildlife tourism market.
By combining accommodation ranging from tented suites to private villas with dining, wellness and cultural experiences, the resort aims to position itself as a destination in its own right rather than simply a base for safari excursions.
