The 192-key St. Regis Chicago luxury hotel opens in the US

The hotel has been acquired by a joint venture between Gencom and GD. Luxury hotel chain St. Regis Hotels and Resorts has opened The St. Regis Chicago luxury hotel in downtown Chicago, US. The hotel is part of a mixed-use project comprising three interconnected towers. At 101 stories, the tallest tower is claimed to be the third highest in the city and the tallest building designed by a female architect.

Located in the Lakeshore East neighbourhood, the project was developed by Magellan Development Group, which acquired it in 2020. Designed by Studio Gang, the tower comprises condominiums, restaurants and amenity spaces, in addition to The St. Regis Chicago hotel.

St. Regis Hotels and Resorts vice-president and global brand leader George Fleck said: “The debut of St. Regis Chicago signals a significant milestone for the St. Regis brand as we grow our footprint in the United States and celebrate our first property in the American Midwest.
“Through St. Regis Chicago, we will debut a new icon within the city, sharing with our guests and local luminaries an architectural masterpiece that also represents the pinnacle of luxury hospitality today.”

KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group was responsible for providing the interiors for multiple public-facing areas of the hotel, as well as the Presidential Suite and The St. Regis Spa.

Occupying 11 floors, the hotel offers 159 guestrooms, and 33 suites and will feature two dining experiences by restaurant group Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants.

Miru, an all-day dining venue on the 11th floor, provides Japanese small plates, sashimi and sushi, as well as steak and seafood.

The Coffee Bar on Eleven serves grab-and-go breakfast items and handmade pastries.

Tre Dita, the Tuscan steakhouse, will provide handmade pasta and classic Italian steaks. Set to open later this year, the restaurant will be designed by David Collins Studio.

Spanning 12,000ft², The St. Regis Spa is a full-service spa that provides a calming, sensory experience to guests.

In addition, the hotel features more than 11,000ft² of event spaces to host gatherings, celebrations and meetings. The Astor Ballroom is spread across 4,721ft² and can accommodate up to 500 guests.

Separately, a joint venture between Gencom and GD has acquired the St. Regis Chicago hotel. Magellan will retain an ownership interest in the project.
