In the wake of the rising Covid-19 cases in India, a few foreign missions in the country have announced the temporary suspension of visa processing.

Russian Embassy in India said in an official tweet, “Due to heavy Covid-19 situation in the country starting from April 19, 2021, the Russian Embassy’s visa section temporarily cease its operations until further notice.”

The U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai, currently, is only providing essential services to US citizens and limited and emergency nonimmigrant and immigrant visa services until further notice.

However, the consulates in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata will continue most visa operations but may cancel certain appointments as per the situation.

The US embassy website said, “If your visa appointment has been cancelled, you will be notified directly by email. Applicants not notified of an appointment cancellation should plan to attend their interview appointment on the scheduled date and time.” New appointments can be made through ustraveldocs.com/in.
