For those with valid visas to the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Schengen states
you can now apply for an e-visa to Oman. Last year, the Sultanate decided to grant visas on arrival, i.e. unsponsored tourist visas to citizens of India, China and Russia with valid visas for the above-mentioned regions. The Sultanate of Oman has now gone one step further to simplify the process and allow travellers to facilitate this process online, via the Royal Oman Police website.

What’s more, you can also take your family with you. If you hold a valid visa to any of the six regions (the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan or the Schengen States), your spouse and children are applicable for visa on arrival too, as long as they are accompanying you on your travels and regardless of whether they hold the same visas.

However, if you do not have a valid visa to the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Schengen states, you will have to apply via the normal route—through a destination management company or travel agent to facilitate the process. The tourist visa to Oman costs OMR 20 (Rs3,374) and must be used within six months of approval or else will be considered invalid. To apply for this visa, travellers must have a valid hotel booking and return ticket and not spend more than one month within the country. Possession of a valid visa of course, does not guarantee a traveller direct entry into Oman. Permission to enter Oman will be at the discretion of the Royal Oman Police officer at the port of entry.
