Vistara, India’s finest full service carrier and a joint venture of Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, received the membership of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), joining the association of more than 280 airlines around the world that represents, leads and serves the airline industry. With this, Vistara becomes one of the select few airlines in India to have the IATA membership.

In September 2017, Vistara successfully completed the IATA Operational Safety Audit or IOSA, cementing its commitment to safety. The audit, a pre-requisite for an IATA membership, confirms Vistara’s compliance with internationally approved aviation safety standards across multitudinous parameters in operational management and control systems. The membership will further enable Vistara to collaborate with other international member airlines for codeshare and interline agreements, and provide a seamless travel experience through an extended global network to travellers to and from India.

Mr. Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara, said, “We’re extremely proud to join the international community of IATA members. Achieving this significant milestone in just three years of starting operations endorses our staunch commitment to running our business in the most efficient ways and to the highest standards of safety. We have been able to attain this because of the incredible amount of dedication and hard work of every single Vistara employee. This membership couldn’t have come at a better time as we gear up to launch our international operations soon. Vistara has set new benchmarks for air travel in India, and with IATA’s membership we’re confident to showcase Vistara’s strengths on a global scale.”

IATA, the trade association for the world’s airlines, represents airlines from over 120 countries across the globe. It advocates for the interests of airlines across the globe, establishes standards to simplify process and increase passenger convenience while reducing costs and improving efficiency, and helps airlines to operate safely, securely, efficiently and economically.

Mr. Conrad Clifford, Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific, IATA, said, “We are delighted to welcome Vistara as IATA’s newest member airline. India is a key aviation market – it is expected to become the third largest aviation market by 2024. We look forward to working with Vistara in shaping IATA’s priorities for India and the global aviation industry, and making aviation the business of freedom.”

As the highest-rated Indian airline on SkyTrax and TripAdvisor and winner of numerous “Best in Industry” awards, Vistara has consistently raised the bar in the Indian aviation industry and made flying an experience to look forward to again. In a short span of three years, Vistara has flown over 8.5 million customers, and today serves 22 destinations with over 730 flights a week, operated by a fleet of 20 Airbus A320 aircraft.
