Accor has appointed Gilles Cretallaz as Senior Vice President of Operations for Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems across Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea and the Maldives, as the hospitality group continues to strengthen the performance, positioning and growth of its luxury and premium brands in the region.
Based in Bangkok, Cretallaz returns to Accor with more than three decades of luxury hospitality experience and will oversee hotel operations, owner relationships, brand standards, talent development and strategic growth initiatives across the five markets.
His appointment comes at a time when Accor is accelerating the evolution of its luxury portfolio in Asia, with several major renovation, repositioning and development projects underway. Cretallaz will support the continued enhancement of iconic properties, including transformation projects at Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort, Sofitel Saigon Plaza and Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa.
Markus Keller, Chief Operating Officer for Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems, said Cretallaz’s extensive regional experience would be instrumental in shaping the next phase of growth for the brands.
“Gilles brings an exceptional combination of operational expertise, strategic vision and deep understanding of luxury hospitality across Asia. As we continue to strengthen our luxury presence and invest in some of our most iconic properties, his leadership will be instrumental in shaping the next chapter of growth for our brands across Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea and the Maldives,” Keller said.
Cretallaz returns to Accor after serving as Chief Operating Officer at Dusit International, where he managed a portfolio of 60 hotels and resorts. In that role, he was responsible for operational performance, brand development and strategic growth across the group’s international portfolio.
Earlier in his career, Cretallaz spent more than 30 years with Accor, holding senior leadership positions across the Asia-Pacific region. His extensive experience includes managing some of the region’s most recognised luxury properties, including Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, SO/ Bangkok, Sofitel Bangkok and several flagship hotels across Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and China.
With expertise spanning luxury operations, hotel transformation, development, repositioning and owner partnerships, Cretallaz is expected to play a key role in advancing Accor’s luxury hospitality strategy across Asia’s rapidly evolving travel markets.
Today, Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems together represent more than 240 hotels worldwide, offering distinctive luxury experiences shaped by local culture, craftsmanship and personalised guest connections. Through Cretallaz’s leadership, Accor aims to further strengthen the brands’ presence and deliver enhanced experiences for travellers across some of the world’s most dynamic destinations.
