Emirates has expanded booking flexibility for passengers travelling to Dubai, introducing unlimited free date changes on eligible fares, lower refund fees and additional travel protection as the airline seeks to give customers greater control over changing travel plans.
Emirates has introduced a package of measures aimed at making travel to Dubai more flexible, including unlimited date changes without a change fee, reduced refund charges, flexible fare-hold options and comprehensive travel insurance.
The new Dubai-specific date-change policy came into effect on 10 August 2026 and applies across several Economy and Business Class fare categories.
Under the new terms, passengers travelling to Dubai can change their travel dates as many times as required without paying a change fee on eligible fares.
In Economy Class, the facility applies to Saver, Flex and other eligible fares, while in Business Class it covers Special, Saver and Flex fares. Economy Flex Plus, Premium Economy, Business Flex Plus and First Class fares continue to offer full flexibility under their existing fare conditions.
Emirates cuts refund fees
Alongside the expanded date-change facility, Emirates has reduced refund fees for Dubai-bound passengers.
In Economy Class, the refund fee has been reduced to US$50 for Saver fares and US$25 for Flex fares.
For Business Class passengers, refund fees are now US$50 for Special and Saver fares and US$25 for Flex fares.
The combination of unlimited date changes on eligible fares and lower refund charges is designed to give travellers greater flexibility when plans change, particularly at a time when international travel can be affected by shifting schedules and unforeseen circumstances.
One free date change across the Emirates network
The additional flexibility is not limited to flights to Dubai.
Passengers travelling across the Emirates network can receive one free date change on tickets booked from 2 April 2026, including itineraries connecting through Dubai, subject to applicable fare conditions.
Travellers can also hold their selected fare for 24 hours without charge while finalising their plans, subject to the airline’s applicable terms and conditions.
The measures provide passengers with additional time to confirm their travel arrangements without immediately committing to a fare.
Travel insurance adds protection
Emirates is also promoting its Comprehensive Travel Cover, providing protection across a range of travel-related circumstances.
The insurance includes conflict-related coverage, with reimbursement of eligible medical expenses of up to US$25,000, as well as a free trip extension of up to 30 days. Emirates says the coverage is not restricted by government travel advice.
Additional benefits include cover for trip cancellation, baggage delays and baggage loss, along with unlimited worldwide medical expenses and emergency evacuation.
The cover is available in 27 countries and can be purchased during the Emirates booking process or added later through the airline’s Manage Booking facility, subject to applicable conditions.
Rebooking support during disruptions
Emirates has also outlined measures for passengers affected by flight disruptions.
Where a flight disruption affects passengers, the airline said it will provide accommodation directly to eligible travellers.
If onward connections involving other airlines are disrupted, or Emirates services are unavailable, passengers will be rebooked to their final destination at no additional cost, including situations involving airspace disruptions, subject to applicable arrangements.
The policy is designed to provide passengers with greater certainty when unexpected operational or geopolitical events affect their itineraries.
Additional benefits for Emirates Skywards members
The airline is also offering additional benefits to Emirates Skywards members until 31 August 2026.
Members will need 20% fewer Tier Miles to achieve Silver, Gold and Platinum status, while members can earn 20% bonus Tier Miles on eligible Emirates and flydubai flights.
Emirates is also enhancing its Cash+Miles redemption rate during the promotional period. Members can redeem 2,000 Miles for US$30, compared with the usual US$15 value.
Miles can be used towards Emirates and flydubai flights as well as selected travel services, including excess baggage, lounge access and seat selection.
Greater flexibility for Dubai-bound travellers
The latest measures give Emirates passengers a wider range of options when booking and managing their journeys.
For travellers heading to Dubai, the unlimited free date-change facility on eligible fares could be particularly useful for those whose schedules remain uncertain. Lower refund fees provide another option for passengers who ultimately need to cancel their plans.
Combined with travel insurance, disruption support and Skywards incentives, Emirates is positioning flexibility as a central part of its offering as international travel continues to evolve.
