Virginia’s wine country has gained a refined new address with the opening of Petit Domaine, Sparkling Winery & Estate, a boutique estate in Loudoun County dedicated entirely to premium sparkling wine. Blending Old World technique with contemporary American hospitality, Petit Domaine introduces a fresh expression of luxury to one of the East Coast’s most quietly compelling wine regions.

Named after the French phrase for “little estate,” Petit Domaine is Virginia’s first winery focused exclusively on traditional-method sparkling wines. The estate has been conceived not simply as a tasting room, but as a destination where craftsmanship, gastronomy and design converge—inviting guests to slow down, celebrate and savour.

Crafted with Purpose

Founded by Loudoun County native J. Snyder, Petit Domaine reflects a specialist vision rooted in precision and elegance. Its limited-production sparkling wines are overseen by Head Winemaker Shai Van Gelder, with an emphasis on finesse, balance and expressive character.

In its early years, while estate vineyards mature, the winery has partnered with a premier cru Champagne house to produce its sparkling wines—an approach that ensures quality and consistency from the outset, while underscoring Petit Domaine’s commitment to traditional craftsmanship.

“A sparkling winery brings a different energy to the wine experience,” Snyder says. “It’s about celebration, refinement and hospitality—qualities that define what we’re building here.”

A Culinary Dimension

Adding to the estate’s appeal is a thoughtfully curated food programme developed under the guidance of Michelin-starred Chef Eric Ziebold, of Washington, D.C.’s Kinship and Métier. Seasonal dishes are designed to complement the winery’s sparkling portfolio, elevating tastings into leisurely, multi-sensory experiences.

Ziebold describes the collaboration as a meeting of intent and craft. “It’s rare to work with a winery that is as purposeful about food as it is about wine. Everything here is designed to work in harmony.”

Designed for Life’s Celebrations

Petit Domaine’s design-forward tasting room and landscaped outdoor spaces have been created with intimate gatherings, weddings and milestone celebrations in mind. The atmosphere is polished yet relaxed, offering a modern interpretation of wine country luxury—less formal, more experiential.

The estate’s opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and private previews, welcoming local leaders and guests into a space that feels both contemporary and timeless.
