Accor, a global leader in hospitality with over 5,600 properties worldwide, has announced the management takeover of Istanbul’s iconic Grand Tarabya Hotel, located along the scenic Bosphorus Strait in the upscale Tarabya neighborhood. This move, effective December 31, 2024, marks Accor’s 38th property in Istanbul and reinforces the Group’s expansion strategy across Europe and the Middle East. It also highlights the city’s growing status as a luxury hospitality hub.

Originally opened in 1966 as one of Turkey’s first five-star hotels, The Grand Tarabya has long been a symbol of elegance and refinement. After a major restoration in 2013, the property has continued to serve as a premier destination, offering 248 rooms and suites, 29 residences, seven diverse dining venues, and a comprehensive wellness center.

To further elevate the property’s offerings, Accor will manage The Grand Tarabya under a white label during an extensive renovation. Once completed, the hotel will be rebranded as a Fairmont property, integrating the luxury brand’s signature touches while honoring the property’s rich history and local cultural heritage.

Omer Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Raffles Hotels & Resorts, expressed his excitement over the transformation. “The Grand Tarabya has an esteemed legacy, and we are honored to carry it forward. With its renovation, the property will become a perfect addition to our portfolio, joining iconic Fairmont hotels such as The Plaza in New York and The Savoy in London. We aim to preserve the hotel’s heritage while enhancing its appeal for today’s luxury travelers.”

Ahmet Bayraktar, Chairman of Bayraktarlar Holding, which owns the property, emphasized the strategic nature of the partnership. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to investing in distinguished destinations that blend historical charm with modern luxury. The Grand Tarabya offers a prestigious setting that aligns perfectly with Accor and Fairmont’s ethos, and we are confident that the hotel will continue to thrive under this new stewardship.”

Located along the Bosphorus, one of the world’s most coveted waterfronts, The Grand Tarabya offers breathtaking views and a serene location, just a short distance from Istanbul’s cultural and historic landmarks. The renovation and rebranding to Fairmont will position the property as a premier destination for luxury travelers.

Accor currently operates more than 70 hotels in Turkey across a range of brands, including Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, Swissôtel, MGallery, Rixos, and others, reinforcing its strong presence in the region. The addition of The Grand Tarabya as a Fairmont property further solidifies Accor’s commitment to expanding its luxury portfolio in key global destinations.
