Airports in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East have once again proven their dominance in passenger service excellence, with regional airports claiming 68 of the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards. The prestigious awards, presented by Airports Council International (ACI) in partnership with travel technology leader Amadeus, recognize outstanding airport experiences in the face of surging air travel demand.

Of the 95 airports globally recognized, 35 were from Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, highlighting the region’s commitment to providing world-class services. The awards, considered the gold standard in measuring airport customer experience, are based on real-time feedback collected through live surveys at airports worldwide. This comprehensive data allows for accurate and fair comparisons of airports, making the ASQ Awards the most trusted benchmarking program in the industry.

In total, 10 airports in Indonesia received accolades across various categories, while 8 airports in China and 7 in India were recognized for their service excellence. Airports in South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines also earned honors, reflecting the region’s strong focus on enhancing passenger satisfaction.

The Middle East saw significant representation with 6 airports, including two from Oman, as well as one each from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi. These awards underscore the commitment of airports in the region to leveraging smart technology, service innovation, and passenger-centric design to elevate the travel experience.

Stefano Baronci, Director General of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, remarked, “With air traffic in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East expected to triple over the next two decades, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable journey is crucial. The fact that 36% of this year’s ASQ awards went to airports in our region is a testament to how airports are turning challenges into opportunities. By embracing digital transformation, investing in infrastructure, and prioritizing service excellence, these airports are setting new benchmarks for the global aviation industry.”

This year’s ASQ Awards affirm that airports in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East are at the forefront of reshaping the passenger experience, positioning the region as a leader in the global aviation sector.
