The 13th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival (SLF) attracted over one million visitors from across the globe, making it a huge success.

Cutting-edge, energy-efficient lighting technology illuminated the emirate’s most popular locations, including Sharjah Police Headquarters, several mosques and waterfronts. Visitors of all age groups flocked to these attractions to witness music, lights, and joyous celebrations.

The festival featured a blend of video mapping technologies and augmented virtual reality inspired by the unique elements of Sharjah. Most of the designs that were displayed predominantly drew inspiration from the emirates’ local culture, stories, and traditions while some also incorporated the elements of modern art and design.

The festival had an impressive turnout this year, with more than 85,000 visitors in the Light Village.

The emirate of Sharjah is well-known for its rich, cultural heritage – an identity that has been recognized many times as shown by the winning of the Cultural Capital of the Arab World 1998 and Islamic Culture Capital 2014 awards. It is a vibrant city with an exciting food and arts scene, a heritage area that is the largest restoration project in the region along with various commercial centres and over 22 museums.
