In a significant development for the global meetings and events sector, Beijing has been officially designated as the host city for the inaugural China International MICE Exchange 2026 (CIMX), set to take place from 3–5 November 2026. The landmark event is expected to serve as a pivotal platform connecting international business events stakeholders with China’s rapidly evolving MICE landscape.

The announcement underscores Beijing’s growing prominence as a global hub for business events and reflects a deepening collaboration between the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and Messe Berlin China. Together, the two entities aim to foster stronger integration between domestic and international MICE markets through structured engagement, strategic partnerships, and industry-driven initiatives.

A New Global Platform for the MICE Industry

CIMX 2026 will mark the debut of a dedicated international exchange platform designed to bring together stakeholders across the full spectrum of the MICE industry—meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions. The event is expected to attract over 200 exhibitors, more than 350 hosted buyers, and upwards of 5,000 professional visitors from around the world.

From destination marketing organisations and convention centres to airlines, hotels, cruise operators, and event technology providers, CIMX will showcase the entire MICE value chain. The programme will feature curated matchmaking sessions, pre-scheduled business meetings, and networking forums aimed at driving cross-border collaboration and long-term partnerships.

Strategic Collaboration Driving Growth

The initiative builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2025 between the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and Messe Berlin China. The agreement laid the foundation for a series of joint international projects, including the launch of CIMX and the development of the “MICE Meeting Point” concept in Beijing.

Beyond the exhibition itself, the partnership encompasses international marketing campaigns, buyer acquisition programmes, and the integration of global and local industry resources—positioning Beijing as a gateway for international organisers seeking access to the Chinese market.

Showcasing Beijing’s MICE and Cultural Strengths

As the Official Host City, Beijing will take centre stage with a dedicated MICE Pavilion at the exhibition. The pavilion will highlight the city’s advanced business events infrastructure, world-class venues, and extensive hospitality offerings, alongside its rich cultural heritage and tourism appeal.

Industry leaders have emphasized that Beijing’s unique combination of modern efficiency and historical depth makes it an increasingly attractive destination for international conferences and large-scale events.

Guo Huaigang, Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, described the event as a milestone moment for the city and the wider industry, noting that Beijing offers not only a dynamic business environment but also an inclusive cultural landscape that enhances the overall delegate experience.

Beijing’s Rising Global Role

The designation of Beijing as CIMX’s host city reflects its expanding influence within the global MICE ecosystem. With its strategic location, robust infrastructure, and access to one of the world’s largest outbound and domestic markets, the city is well-positioned to serve as a bridge between China and international event organisers.

According to David Axiotis, the launch of CIMX represents a key milestone in long-term cooperation efforts and aims to establish a truly international platform that facilitates meaningful engagement between China and the global MICE community.

Looking Ahead to November 2026

As anticipation builds for the inaugural edition, CIMX is expected to play a transformative role in shaping the future of the MICE industry in Asia and beyond. By combining high-level networking opportunities with targeted business matchmaking, the event is poised to unlock new avenues for collaboration, investment, and growth.

For global industry players, Beijing 2026 will not only be a marketplace for business events—but also a gateway to deeper engagement with one of the world’s most dynamic and rapidly expanding markets.
