ETOA to Host Second ‘Showcase: Outbound India’ Programme in Mumbai in January 2027

European tourism suppliers and Indian outbound travel buyers will connect through B2B meetings, OTM Mumbai participation and online workshops aimed at expanding commercial partnerships.

The European Tourism Association (ETOA) will stage the second edition of its Showcase: Outbound India programme in early 2027, bringing European destinations and tourism businesses together with Indian outbound travel buyers through a combination of face-to-face meetings, online networking and market intelligence sessions.

Delivered in partnership with Auxilia, the initiative builds on the inaugural programme held in early 2026 and aims to strengthen commercial links between Europe’s tourism sector and India’s expanding outbound travel market.

The 2027 programme will open with an in-person business-to-business (B2B) workshop in Mumbai on January 30. ETOA will then participate in OTM Mumbai from February 1 to 3, followed by online B2B workshops on February 9 and 11.

The format is designed to give European tourism suppliers, destinations and service providers multiple opportunities to meet Indian tour operators, travel agents, wholesalers and other buyers interested in developing European holiday products.

Connecting European suppliers with Indian buyers

The Mumbai workshop will provide a dedicated platform for business meetings between European suppliers and Indian travel trade representatives. The programme is intended to help participants establish commercial relationships, introduce new products and identify opportunities to expand their presence in the Indian market.

ETOA’s participation at OTM Mumbai will extend that engagement, allowing participating European businesses to connect with a wider travel trade audience. Additional online workshops will offer further opportunities for follow-up discussions and business development beyond the in-person events.

The programme will also feature market insight sessions and practical resources designed to help European tourism organisations understand Indian travellers’ preferences, the changing structure of outbound demand and the commercial priorities of local travel buyers.

Tom Jenkins, chief executive officer of ETOA, said the response to the first edition demonstrated interest among European tourism businesses and Indian travel trade partners in developing stronger commercial connections.

He said the 2027 programme would build on that momentum by giving European businesses practical opportunities to understand the market, develop relationships and convert growing interest in European travel into business.

India’s growing importance to European tourism

ETOA sees opportunities arising from the expansion of India’s middle class, rising interest in international holidays and increasing demand for long-haul travel from cities beyond the country’s largest metropolitan centres.

For European destinations and tourism businesses, engaging with Indian travel companies can provide a route to market through established distribution networks, including tour operators, wholesalers and travel advisors.

Paramjit Bawa, ETOA’s Indian market specialist, described the first edition as a strong start to the association’s growing engagement with India’s outbound travel sector. He said that, despite geopolitical and economic challenges, Indian travellers continued to show interest in exploring Europe.

Bawa also highlighted the potential created by increasing spending power and the growth of long-haul travel from secondary and tertiary cities, arguing that these trends offered opportunities for European businesses seeking to expand their Indian customer base.

A combined programme of meetings and market intelligence

By combining in-person workshops, trade-show participation and online meetings, Showcase: Outbound India 2027aims to support continued interaction between European tourism suppliers and Indian travel businesses before and after their initial meetings.

The initiative is open to eligible tourism suppliers and Indian travel trade buyers, with participation options designed around different business needs. ETOA’s programme also includes an India-focused handbook and insight resources intended to help delegates follow up on contacts and develop their market strategies.

The programme reflects the growing emphasis on direct trade engagement as European destinations seek to strengthen distribution and reach travellers from India’s diverse and evolving outbound market.
