Sri Lanka’s privately owned international carrier, FitsAir, has entered into a global distribution agreement with Amadeus, a move designed to enhance the airline’s international visibility and provide travel sellers worldwide with easier access to its flight inventory.

The partnership marks an important milestone in FitsAir’s expansion strategy, enabling the airline to distribute its full range of fares and services through the Amadeus Travel Platform, one of the world’s leading travel distribution systems used by travel agencies and corporate travel sellers across global markets.

Enhancing global market access

Under the agreement, travel agencies connected to the Amadeus Travel Platform will be able to search, book and manage FitsAir flights through a single integrated system. The enhanced connectivity is expected to improve the airline’s visibility among international travel professionals while offering travellers greater choice and easier access to its growing network.

The collaboration supports FitsAir’s long-term strategy of strengthening its indirect distribution channels as it continues to expand its international footprint and attract passengers from key overseas markets.

Commenting on the agreement, Ammar Kassim, Executive Director of FitsAir, said:

  • “This agreement with Amadeus is an important step in our international distribution strategy. By making our content available through the Amadeus Travel Platform, we can connect more effectively with travel sellers worldwide and offer customers greater access to our services.”

Supporting airline growth through technology

The agreement enables FitsAir to leverage Amadeus’ extensive global distribution network, connecting the airline with thousands of travel agencies, tour operators and corporate travel management companies worldwide.

By improving access to its flight content through a widely used travel booking platform, FitsAir aims to strengthen brand awareness, expand sales opportunities and stimulate demand across its international route network.

For travel advisors, the partnership simplifies the booking process by providing seamless access to the airline’s schedules, fares and reservation services within their existing workflow.

Javier Laforgue, Executive Vice President, Travel Unit & Managing Director, Asia Pacific at Amadeus, said:

“We are pleased to welcome FitsAir to the Amadeus Travel Platform. This agreement supports FitsAir’s growth ambitions by expanding its global reach, while enabling travel sellers to easily access and book the airline’s content through a trusted and efficient distribution environment.”

Strengthening the global travel ecosystem

The partnership also reinforces Amadeus’ continued focus on supporting airlines of all sizes through flexible distribution solutions that connect airlines, travel sellers and travellers within an increasingly digital travel ecosystem.

As airlines seek broader international reach and more efficient retailing capabilities, global distribution systems remain an important channel for expanding market presence and improving accessibility for both leisure and business travellers.
