The 13th edition of the International Heritage Tourism Conclave, themed ‘Care for Heritage’, will commence tomorrow at Hotel Sayaji Indore. Organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI), the event has garnered support from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, Rajasthan Tourism, IndiGo, and IRCTC.
Hon’ble Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Mangubhai Patel, will inaugurate the conclave, joined by esteemed Guests of Honour including Manisha Saxena (IAS), Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and Sheo Shekhar Shukla (IAS), Principal Secretary – Tourism and Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh.
A focal point of the event will be the unveiling of the report ‘Heritage Tourism as a Path to Sustainable Tourism’, a collaborative effort between PHDCCI and its Knowledge Partner, KPMG.
The conclave will feature an impressive lineup of speakers and interactive sessions, beginning with a classical dance performance by students from Garima Vidya Vihar Senior Secondary School.
Key discussions include the role of women in preserving cultural legacy, led by Shalini S Sharma, Assistant Secretary General, PHDCCI, with insights from Vaibhav Chauhan, Director of The City Palace, Jaipur and Jaigarh Fort, and Anjchita Nair, Co-Founder & CEO, Culture.
Ajay Verma, CEO – Heritage and Events, Sabhyata Foundation (Dalmia Group), will delve into enabling policies for heritage preservation, focusing on the iconic Red Fort. Renowned historian Swapna Liddle will share perspectives on public engagement in heritage conservation, while Kishwar Desai, Chair of The Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust, will present a case study on the Partition Museum in Amritsar.
Exploring the nexus of technology and heritage preservation, a panel moderated by Prof. Mohan Raghavan, Head, Department of Heritage Science Technology, IIT Hyderabad, will feature industry leaders Priti Ramakrishnan, Co-Founder & COO, ImmverseAI, and Raghava Krishna, Founder and CEO, Brhat.
The conclave will culminate with a session on preserving heritage through art by Wajid Khan, Artist, Sculptor, Inventor, Patent Holder, hosted by Atul Singh, Chairman – MP Chapter, Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to partake in the Rajwada Reminiscence Heritage Walk, curated by Ritik and Shashank, Co-Founders of Udte Kabootar, offering an immersive exploration of Indore’s historical marvels.
