In 2012, Hong Kong (population: 7.1 million) and Japan (population: 128 million) respectively spent US$20.5 billion and US$28.1 billion on international tourism, and Hong Kong’s spending was about 20% of mainland China (population:1,300 million). Hong Kong has high spending in both per capita and total, and leads other China’s provinces.
In 2012, Hong Kong outbound to Japan and Singapore were respectively 481,704 and 472,080, or 34% and 23% of China’s outbound to these destinations. In addition to these two destinations, Hong Kong citizens can visit over 140 countries and regions without visa.
Respectively 72% and 20% of our Travel Expo’s 11872 trade visitors and buyers came from Hong Kong and China especially Guangdong, and there are 73,000 public visitors with 80% preferring FIT / tailored made groups and 23% interested in making onsite purchases. So our Travel Expo covers travel trade from both Hong Kong & China, and Hong Kong’s affluent FIT.
The next travel expo, ITE & MICE 2014, a co-location the 28th ITE (leisure) and 9th ITE MICE, will be held from June 12 to 15 at Halls 1A to 1E at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. It also covers MICE / Corporate Travel and highlights travel themes like Honeymoon and Overseas Wedding, Travel Photography, Cruise, Wellness, Sport Tourism and Study Tours etc.
