Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) hosted a comprehensive Tourism Masterclass at Madhya Pradesh Bhawan in Delhi, aimed at educating and engaging members of the travel trade fraternity. The session focused on unveiling the state’s latest tourism offerings and recent initiatives introduced by the MPTB to bolster tourism in the region.
Bidisha Mukherjee, Additional Managing Director of MPTB, highlighted the significant growth in tourist footfall in Madhya Pradesh, which surged from 34.1 million to 112.1 million visitors. This exponential increase underscores the state’s rising popularity as a preferred tourist destination.
The masterclass aimed to equip travel professionals, including travel agents and tour operators, with updated insights and information about Madhya Pradesh’s diverse attractions. Mukherjee emphasized the importance of interactive and informative sessions to assist professionals in crafting innovative itineraries and maintaining competitiveness in the dynamic tourism industry.
“When a tourist arrives at a destination, they are already well-informed. They have researched extensively about the destinations and places they wish to explore,” Mukherjee remarked, underscoring the evolving expectations of today’s travelers and the need for industry professionals to meet these demands effectively.
The masterclass delved into the evolving patterns of tourism and highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s rich offerings, including historical landmarks, wildlife sanctuaries, off-beat destinations, and spiritual and cultural corridors. Known as the ‘Tiger State of India,’ Madhya Pradesh boasts 12 national parks, 6 tiger reserves, and 24 wildlife sanctuaries. Recent initiatives such as the reintroduction of Cheetahs into national parks and the launch of intra-air service Paryatan Vayu Sewa connecting major cities and key destinations like Khajuraho, Rewa, and Singrauli were also spotlighted.
An innovative initiative showcased during the masterclass was the establishment of a handloom village in Pranpur near Chanderi, aimed at providing immersive experiences in the state’s vibrant art and craft industry.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from MPTB to continue promoting Madhya Pradesh as a leading tourism destination, fostering sustainable growth and enhancing visitor experiences through strategic initiatives and partnerships.
As Madhya Pradesh positions itself as a cultural and natural treasure trove, the Tourism Masterclass served as a pivotal platform to showcase its allure and readiness to welcome travelers seeking unique and enriching experiences.
