MoT to organise Inter-ministerial Conclave on Feb 9, 2015

faithIn order to establish synergy among the ministries related to tourism development, Federation of Associations of Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) had put forth a proposal to the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India to conduct an Inter-ministerial Conclave. The same has been accepted by the Ministry and the Conclave will be held on February 9, 2015. This announcement was made by Aashish Gupta, Consulting CEO, FAITH at The Leela Palace, New Delhi.

MoT will invite around 15 other ministries that are vital to the growth of tourism in India, Gupta informed. The Conclave will entail back-to-back workshops to develop a clear action plan for tourism development, thereby creating an incredible experience for tourists in India, he said.

Moreover, FAITH has also convened a Joint Meeting of Airlines with the Union Ministries of Civil Aviation and Tourism on January 22. Connectivity being a major bottleneck would be looked into at the meeting, besides addressing the concerns related to tourism development through civil aviation, informed Gupta.

For the first time ever, the tourism industry was invited for the pre- budget discussions with the Finance Minister for the Union Budget 2015-16, informed Nakul Anand, Chairman, FAITH. Arun Jaitley, Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs, and Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, had called upon leading tourism stakeholders along with FAITH at the Pre-Budget Consultative Committee Meeting in New Delhi on January 6. FAITH has submitted recommendations and will follow up on the same.

Further, Sarabjit Singh, Vice Chairman, FAITH, announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Global Exhibition on Services 2015 – the B2B exhibition of the service sector – that will witness participation of MoT. FAITH is the partner for GES, which will be held from April 23-25.

It was also announced that the Executive Committee of FAITH has been elected unanimously for the second term. Singh informed that the Federation had recently launched a monthly newsletter covering the initiatives that it has taken.
