Saudi Arabia Sees 240% Surge in Leisure Visits from India, Launches Major Consumer Campaign

-

Saudi Arabia is witnessing a remarkable 240% increase in leisure visits from India compared to last year, prompting the launch of its first-ever integrated consumer campaign for the Indian market, titled ‘Spectacular Saudi.’ This new initiative by Saudi’s national tourism brand, ‘Saudi Welcome to Arabia,’ aims to further boost Indian arrivals and highlight the country’s unique attractions.

The campaign, which debuts across India in English on social media, digital platforms, TV, and OTA channels, showcases Saudi Arabia’s diverse landscapes and rich heritage. It features stunning visuals of the ancient mud-brick architecture of Diriyah’s At-Turaif, the pristine waters of the Red Sea, the historic streets of Al Balad in Jeddah, and the majestic Nabataean tombs in Hegra, AlUla. ‘Spectacular Saudi’ invites Indian travelers—couples, families, and adventure seekers alike—to explore these iconic sites and experience the country’s welcoming culture, which aligns closely with Indian hospitality.

To facilitate travel, Saudi Arabia has introduced various measures. With over 330 direct weekly flights and eight airline operators connecting the two nations, visiting Saudi Arabia has never been easier. Indian nationals holding valid tourist or business visas from the USA, UK, or Schengen countries are eligible for an eVisa or visa on arrival at Saudi international airports. Those not meeting these criteria can apply through 11 Tasheer Centres across India. Additionally, a free Stopover visa, valid for up to 96 hours, is available for Indian travelers booking through Saudi Airline and Flynas websites, up to 90 days in advance.

Alhasan Aldabbagh, President of APAC Markets at Saudi Tourism Authority, emphasized the significance of the campaign, stating, “Indian travelers have long shown a deep appreciation for authentic and unique experiences. They are keen to explore novel destinations, cultures, and gastronomy, and Saudi Arabia offers exactly that. With iconic destinations like Diriyah, Al Balad, and Hegra in AlUla—three of Saudi’s eight UNESCO World Heritage sites—travelers can delve into history while enjoying world-class culture, adventure, and cuisine.”

Aldabbagh also highlighted the importance of the Indian market, expressing a commitment to making India the number one source market by 2030. “India holds an incredibly special place in our hearts. In 2023 alone, 1.6 million Indians traveled to Saudi Arabia. We are excited for Indian visitors to experience the warm Saudi welcome, a core part of our heritage that resonates with Indian culture,” he added.
