Saudi Arabia is expanding its ambitions in luxury marine tourism with the launch of the Red Sea Yacht Show, a new international yachting event scheduled to take place in Jeddah in October 2027.
The inaugural Red Sea Yacht Show will be held at Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina from October 14 to 17, 2027, bringing together yacht owners, shipyards, brokers, designers and luxury brands as Saudi Arabia seeks to strengthen its position on the international yachting map.
Organizers expect the four-day event to feature around 50 yachts, 150 exhibitors and more than 10,000 visitors. The fleet of new and pre-owned superyachts, support vessels and day cruisers on display is expected to have a combined value exceeding $3 billion.
Saudi Press Agency reports that the event could generate an economic impact of up to $500 million through yacht sales, charter activity and luxury tourism. Separately, the event has been reported as targeting more than SAR1.8 billion ($480 million) in investment returns. These figures are projections rather than guaranteed returns.
Jeddah becomes the stage for a new yachting event
The event was announced during the Monaco Yacht Show, where Sela, a Public Investment Fund company, signed a cooperation agreement with Tahaluf to organize and promote the inaugural show.
The agreement was supported by Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region and Chairman of the National Events Calendar Committee for Jeddah. The signing brought together representatives of the international superyacht sector, including yacht owners, private-wealth advisers, shipyard executives, brokers and naval architects.
Tahaluf will organize the event in cooperation with Sela, while the initiative draws on the international yachting expertise and network associated with the Monaco Yacht Show. The Red Sea Yacht Show’s official website identifies Monaco Yacht Show as its powering partner and BOAT International as a supporting partner.
The event is being developed as more than a traditional yacht exhibition. Its programme is expected to combine the marine industry with a broader luxury lifestyle proposition.
Yachts, luxury brands and Red Sea experiences
Alongside the vessels, the show is expected to feature luxury watches and jewellery, fine dining, high-end automobiles, golf and diving experiences.
The official event platform describes a programme designed around superyacht ownership and luxury lifestyle, including onboard events, luxury retail and automotive displays.
The combination reflects the broader commercial opportunity associated with the superyacht sector, where spending extends beyond vessel sales and chartering into hospitality, dining, retail, aviation, marina services and destination experiences.
For Jeddah and the wider Red Sea region, the event provides an international platform to showcase the coastline and the infrastructure being developed to support marine tourism.
Linking the Mediterranean and Red Sea yachting seasons
A central element of the show’s proposition is its timing.
Organizers are positioning the Red Sea as a potential winter cruising destination for yachts operating in the Mediterranean during the warmer months. The event’s official materials highlight the region’s winter climate and developing superyacht infrastructure as part of its appeal to the international yachting community.
The initiative also seeks to strengthen connections between the established European yachting market and Saudi Arabia’s emerging marine-tourism sector.
The launch of the show in Monaco was therefore significant beyond the announcement itself: it placed Saudi Arabia’s developing Red Sea proposition directly in front of one of the industry’s established international audiences.
Red Sea development creates a wider tourism proposition
The yacht show comes as major investment continues along Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coastline.
According to the event organizers and Saudi Press Agency, more than $22.4 billion in coastal development is being highlighted in connection with the region’s expanding marine infrastructure and tourism economy.
The Red Sea tourism strategy includes luxury resorts, islands, marinas and other visitor infrastructure, creating an ecosystem in which yachting can form part of a wider high-end travel experience.
Jeddah is particularly significant because of its existing position as a gateway to the Red Sea and its growing portfolio of waterfront, hospitality and leisure developments. Hosting the yacht show at Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina gives the event an established waterfront setting rather than relying solely on a purpose-built exhibition venue.
A new addition to Saudi Arabia’s luxury tourism calendar
The Red Sea Yacht Show adds another international event to Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding calendar of tourism, business and lifestyle events.
For the yachting sector, its significance will ultimately depend on participation from international yacht owners, brokers, shipyards and charter companies, as well as the development of the supporting marina and tourism infrastructure required to accommodate visiting vessels.
For Saudi Arabia, the event offers an opportunity to introduce the Red Sea to a global audience of affluent travellers and marine-industry decision-makers.
The inaugural show is still more than a year away, but its planned scale — including 50 yachts, 150 exhibitors and more than 10,000 visitors — signals the ambitions behind the project.
With Jeddah positioned at the centre of the initiative, Saudi Arabia is seeking to turn its Red Sea coastline into not only a luxury resort destination, but also a potential hub for international marine tourism and the global superyacht community.
