StarCruises Debuts World’s First Cycling Race at Sea

StarCruises has raised the bar for onboard entertainment, introducing a first-of-its-kind experience that blends fitness, technology, and ocean travel. In partnership with Flying Pigeon Bicycle and Shanhang Haisu, the cruise line unveiled Navigate Mountains and Seas: Embark on a Cycling Journey—the world’s first intelligent cycling race at sea—aboard the Star Voyager.

The innovative attraction was launched during a five-night sailing from Hong Kong to Naha and Ishigaki (17–22 August), transforming traditional cruising into an immersive sporting adventure.

Immersive Fitness at Sea

The debut featured three advanced smart cycling platforms simulating nine real-world road scenarios, from steep climbs to rugged mountain paths. Guests of all ages formed teams, cheered each other on, and raced through virtual landscapes while the ship sailed the open seas.

Far more than a novelty, the cycling race was an engaging full-body workout and an entertainment spectacle, combining community spirit with the thrill of competition.

Hong Kong: A Fitting Homeport

As one of the Star Voyager’s key bases, Hong Kong provides a natural backdrop for the venture. With its cycling-friendly trails—from the New Territories Greenway to the coastal routes of its outlying islands—the city embodies the active lifestyle that StarCruises has brought onboard. Guests embark from the centrally located Ocean Terminal, making the experience seamless and accessible.
