Swiss flag carrier continues expanded India operations through the end of the summer schedule, strengthening connectivity between India and Switzerland
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), the national carrier of Switzerland, has announced the extension of its additional daily Delhi–Zurich service until October 24, 2026, reinforcing air connectivity between India and Switzerland in response to sustained demand for non-stop travel and ongoing operational challenges affecting regional airspace.
The additional frequency, originally introduced as a temporary measure to accommodate rising passenger demand, will now continue through the remainder of the airline’s Northern Hemisphere summer schedule, providing travellers with greater flexibility and increased seat availability on one of Europe’s important long-haul routes.
The move comes as airlines continue to adapt schedules in response to evolving airspace restrictions in parts of the Middle East while maintaining reliable connectivity between Europe and South Asia.
Strong Demand Drives Capacity Extension
According to SWISS, the decision to extend the additional Delhi–Zurich operation reflects continued strong demand for direct travel between the two countries from both leisure and business travellers.
The airline noted that bookings on the route have remained robust since the introduction of the extra service, prompting the extension through October 24, the final day of its summer operating schedule.
The additional flights are available for booking immediately, offering passengers increased travel options during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Enhanced Connectivity Between India and Switzerland
The extended service will operate daily using the airline’s Airbus A330-300 aircraft, complementing SWISS’ existing scheduled operations between Delhi, Mumbai and its global hub at Zurich Airport.
The additional rotation will operate as:
- Flight LX2646: Depart Zurich at 12:35, arriving in Delhi at 00:05 the following day.
- Flight LX2647: Depart Delhi at 01:40, arriving back in Zurich at 07:00 the same day.
The schedule is designed to provide convenient onward connections through Zurich to destinations across Europe and North America via the airline’s extensive network.
Supporting Tourism and Business Travel
The continuation of the expanded Delhi service is expected to benefit multiple travel segments.
For leisure travellers, the additional flights provide easier access to Switzerland’s year-round attractions, including its Alpine resorts, scenic rail journeys, historic cities and outdoor experiences. India has emerged as an increasingly important long-haul source market for Swiss tourism, with growing demand for holidays centred around nature, luxury, adventure and family travel.
Business travellers also stand to benefit from the increased frequency, particularly given the strong economic and commercial ties between India and Switzerland. The airline recently confirmed plans to launch non-stop flights between Zurich and Bengaluru from October 2026, further expanding its footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing international aviation markets.
With services from Delhi, Mumbai and soon Bengaluru, SWISS continues to increase connectivity between India and Switzerland while offering travellers seamless access to Europe through its Zurich hub.
The expansion reflects the sustained growth in outbound travel from India, fuelled by rising disposable incomes, expanding business links and increasing demand for premium long-haul travel.

The decision to maintain additional capacity also comes at a time when airlines continue to navigate a complex operating environment shaped by geopolitical developments and evolving airspace restrictions.
